Silk is always such a great printing surface for natural materials - best place to start! I have had much less luck with the cotton on these experiments, but that is how we keep learning 😊

Hi Birdie! lovely videos as always! Have you tried the boil in the pot / 'dirty pot' method with some rusty metal/water? Works a treat for eucalyptus! :) Just depends on the feel of the fabric you're wanting afterwards, as it can be a little harsh on more delicate fabrics. Sure you already know this, just in case! :) xxx

How lovely to hear - thank you! I know about the 'dirty pot', but I've never tried it personally. Will have to add it to the list with eucalyptus - thanks for the tip! Might be a great option for cotton fibers since they are stronger but are not doing great in picking up strong prints in my studio right now 😉

@@MargaretByrdColorQuest yeah, it's great fun seeing what appears from tannin rich leaves and rust combo! I've also had better luck with strong prints using The Dogwood Dyer's 'direct mordant' method 👍🏻 it's more of an involved process but worth it for special prints 😊 Excited to see your next videos!!!xxx

She has some great resources and success with her printing, but I've not seen anything of her content. Pre-treatment is always the secret sauce 😊 Will keep exploring options and learning as much as possible along the way. @@locomademoiselle

What temperature do you rinse the dry fibers in before start the botanical imprinting

I don't typically pay much attention to the temperature for soaking, but I suppose starting at a tepid level would be a good practice.
