Do you know how to remove the Grey background from a table of content? It isn't very annoying.

Can you suggest how to format the table into lower cases as it is in upper case?

Highlight the table and press Shift and the F3 key, that will change case keep doing it until you get the correct case

How do you update the TOC without losing formatting? Each time I try, it converts to Calibri font which is not what I want.

Change the style formatting in style option. Toc is a style

Go to the Home tab and styles area. Click on the small arrow in the bottm left corner of the styles area. At the bottom of the styles box select manage styles. Select the edit tab, find the TOC entry and modify it.
