thank you so much for this tutorial. as i still am a prevalently (if not exclusively) traditional artist, it is a bit of a struggle getting neat images of my artwork to post on social media. and since i cannot have photoshop nor figure out how to use it, i rely on tutorials exactly like this one. once again thanks, this is very helpful

Nice to see someone using Gimp and not like most of the people Photoshop or something like that :D Great tutorial

Shiroichi Art Thanks! Photoshop is good for more complex edits, but Gimp is enough for basic stuff like this. 😊

This was really helpful! Can you do a video on editing sketches? When working with acrylics on watercolor paper, do you use water or mediums?
@IvyLilyCreative6 жыл бұрын
Nephtalie Albert Thanks! Just water mostly.

Ivy Lily Creative How much water do you use?
@IvyLilyCreative6 жыл бұрын
Just enough to make the paint flow better. You don't necessarily even need water. It depends on how thick the paint is. But if I want to paint more translucent, I'll either use more water or use matte medium instead. Apparently if you use too much water with acrylics (more than 50% water), the paint might peel off when it's dry (it's never happened to me, though).

Ivy Lily Creative Well I am using watercolor paper so how much water should I add?
@IvyLilyCreative6 жыл бұрын
I don't think the paper affects it much. It's more about the type of paints. Some might flow well enough without adding any water. I've noticed that blacks tend to be thicker than other colors of the same brand, so I use a bit more water with black, for example. I just dip the brush in water and then mix in with the paint. And if it's not enough water, dip it in water again and so on. So, I don't pour a certain amount of water into the palette with the paint. I just use a wet brush.

I had the same issue of PNG file not recognized in Redbubble. I contacted Redbubble and I was told that the EXIF data of the image (edited using GIMP) wasn't recognized. The tech support advised me to clear the EXIF data OR use another image editing program like PIXLR and re-save the image. It worked for me. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip! My problem was fixed, when I updated to the newest version of GIMP.

hello. I love your gimp videos I keep on rewatching them. I edit pictures of art on Gimp to upload to redbubble, but every time I upload it looks blury in my redbubble shop? can you help me with this problem?
@IvyLilyCreative6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Susy! Thanks! Do they look fine, when they're exported from GIMP, but then blurry when you upload them to Redbubble? Or are they blurry already, when you export them from GIMP? What file format and size are they?
@SusyMaldonado6 жыл бұрын
+Ivy Lily Creative my art is blurry once they are uploaded to Redbubble. the size that I use is 2550 × 3300 pixels

I don't know what could cause that, it hasn't happened to me. Maybe send a request to Redbubble (help.redbubble.com/hc/en-us/articles/201350819-Uploader-Trouble) or contact them on Twitter @RedbubbleHelp.

I did have an issue uploading png images to Redbubble at one point, but they weren't blurry, they just wouldn't upload at all. And it got fixed, when I updated GIMP to a newer version. But other than that, I can't think of any reason why the images would turn blurry.

I prefer coloring my artwork with markers. I'm going to be purchasing some "Shuttle Art" markers from Amazon soon. This is the 3rd video I've seen Artists use watercolor for their Redbubble designs. Is it ok to use markers?
@IvyLilyCreative5 жыл бұрын
Yeah, of course! You can use any medium you want for Redbubble designs.
