The way I understand it is that even though the house was swept clean & put in order, there was no one home. This is commonly interpreted that the Holy Spirit is not in the house but it could potentially be argued that the person was not tending to their house. That they were "at leisure" as the Greek word for empty/unoccupied in that scripture is scholazo. That word is only use one other time in 1 Cor. 7:5 indicating the going away for only a limited time but to come back to not neglect responsibilities. Our house is our responsibility & we must tend to it.
