I don't know how I got to this video, but I sure needed to watch it. I've been going through UWORLD aimlessly. Just like you mentioned here, I have been going out of UWORLD looking up concepts, not having enough time to review questions because I take too much notes on concepts that I supposedly don't know and on top of all of this, I review everything together, correct and incorrect. SMH. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart for posting this video. I will implement your strategies and see how my performance increase in the following week. Thank you ❤

This is great! not many vids on how to use notion for USMLE. Going back to your point though about making notes that you may not ever revisit, isn't that possible with this system as well? My current strategy is to unsuspend Anking cards (or make my own) for each question I miss, and I know I'll revisit it because I do all my cards every day. When doing the FAB 5 strategy too, don't you end up missing some topics lets say if there actually 7 topics you feel you struggled with in a block?

Thanks for sharing this method!! What do you think would be the best approach for reviewing other incorrects and corrects (just reading the explanation + educational objectives or just reading the educational objectives) ? I am one of those people who feel like they are missing something and spend way too much time reviewing, Once again thanks a lot for the help in this soul-draining process 💛
@hyguruprep
@hyguruprep Жыл бұрын
Hey Scarlett! Thanks - I would say that for your other incorrects and corrects, you should try to really keep relating the educational objective to the vignette. After you do this, you can 'mentally' go through the explanation and keep centering yourself around 'how does this fact/description/table' relate to the vignette. Honestly, the key is to repeat your incorrects i.e. do UWorld once, then incorrects, then once again -- the repetition with understanding of why you are getting the questions are correct will help you so much! Oh, and don't forget to set a timer! It will keep you on track!

Thank you for this video. I want your suggestion- I have been studying systems and doing UW systems based questions. Do you think this is a good approach? Or shall I do random block questions? Not sure what's more efficient than other. Please advise.

If you're learning. Round 1-system wise, round 2- random
@hyguruprep

Thanks! I think it depends on timeline. A more abbreviated timeline of a 4-8 weeks I would do mixed. I think systems based is great for a first pass, however I would encourage it in timed, system rather than tutor.

Hi Dr. Damania, how do you suggest reviewing our Notion notebook to study this material? How often and how do we note what we've studied?
@hyguruprep
@hyguruprep 9 ай бұрын
hi! sorry for the delay on this! I would say that you can set aside 1 hour each day to go thru 5 topics from your UW notebook and do focused tutor mode questions from AMBOSS, or USMLE Rx!!

Hi! Thanks for this video! If you are doing mixed review, is a timed approach better? Should a block usually be 40qs timed like in the video? I saw above systems approach was recccomensed as timed, was wondering for mixed as well! is 75-90 mins for reviewing 40 q blocks?
@hyguruprep
@hyguruprep Жыл бұрын
Yes 40 q timed to do and then review 90 minutes starting with Fab 5!!

Hi Dr. Please could I make a question? Am I correct if my entire effort focus in Physiology and Phatology because it is the 60% of the final usmle step 1 test? Is that thinking is correct or not? THANK YOU
@hyguruprep
@hyguruprep Жыл бұрын
Great question! I would say a holistic approach is more optimal. Though Physiology and Pathology are majority of the exam, you should plan on studying all of the organ system's Pharm, Biochem, Micro, and Anatomy as well. Having a good foundation with Phys and Path is essential, however it is not everything! Keep doing mixed questions because as you delve into the other subsections (anat, biochem, immuno, etc.), you will get even stronger in Path/Phys!
