How To: (Emu) Move Files from Emu Hardware to Emulator X3

This is a quick tutorial on how I use Chicken System Translator 6 on Windows XP to move files from my EIV to the windows domain to continue working on sessions when away from the studio.

An amazing plugin for sure, love the sounds on this thing. I've been trying to get it to run on my copy of FL Studio 21 recently, but it doesn't make any sound. Did you have to adjust any settings to get it to work on your end, or do I have to switch to an older OS in order to try it out? Thanks!

You will need x86 windows (7 or 10 is ok) and adaptec scsi driver. With those, emulator x3 was able to load e-mu format E4 series CD-ROMs directly without conversion. I don't know if it's possible to load files on hardware E4 directly via SCSI. I haven't tried it with x64 adaptec scsi driver (and x64 windows).

Problem is I find the software doesnt sound anything like the unit. I always hoped The Usual Suspects would redo the emualions. EMU left the building before they fixed the software.

My X3 pops up a message window every 30 seconds saying the instrument is unsaved, even after I save it. Makes it unusable. Nothing I do will stop it.

Haven’t seen that issue in my workflow yet. What version of windows are you using?

New subscriber here.. This is cool.. I never thought of doing anything like this. I have the Zulu SCSI to SD in my e6400 Classic. So I should essentially be able to do the same thing by taking the micro SD card from the e6400, plugging it into my computer and using Translator to get the files?

That should also work. The Emu format is a lot easier to manage than the Akai format in my experience. It may be easier with Zulu if your using HDA files instead of the old style SCSI2SD like I use
