can you please do a video dedicated to fraction problems with stoichiometry or typical scenarios with fractions?
@jesseosbourne2 жыл бұрын
Hi Srishti, can do! I'll try to work on this this week. Sorry turnaround times on videos are a little longer at the moment with it being peak GAMSAT season 😅

Hey Jesse! I was just wondering what your thoughts were on the ACE GAMSAT Bibles for reviewing material? Do you know how well written/comprehensive they are?
@jesseosbourne3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! I've not seen any of their material but based on what others have said it doesn't sound great. It looks like they are effectively mini textbooks that summarise the theory of the GAMSAT which in my opinion doesn't need to be paid for. As the exam gets closer the marketing tactics of these kinds of companies will ramp up and suggest that their digital resources are necessary for a good score. This is absolutely not true. Textbooks will not determine a score, but practising and analysing ACER questions will. In fact, from the recounts of others, it seems that those that perform best are those that solely used ACER material in their preparation. I'd instead work through a checklist of topics (you could check out the one on my resources page) and then google each topic as it'll be a more active process anyway. The other thing I'd recommend is working through my crash course videos here as a guide as to what you actually need to know or take from each of the topics. Section 3 can be overwhelming when preparing for topics that you're unfamiliar with and therefore don't know what to search for or look for. Hopefully the crash course videos and the checklist help with navigating this. The other thing that you could do is work through Khan academy videos (I believe they have a GAMSAT specific playlist on their KZbin channel). And finally, a good resource is LibreTexts. It's a website with free access to textbooks and condensed summaries of key topics from biology, chemistry, and physics and usually has some worked examples and questions too. It's not a GAMSAT related resource but is a good way to review any areas of content that you're less familiar with. With the GAMSAT now inside of three months, I'd highly recommend that any theory study that you do be always supplemented with application in relevant ACER questions. It is very easy to get sidetracked by the theory but you'll find that certain concepts and skills are pinpointed more commonly by ACER (I try to highlight these as much as possible in my Crash Course videos). Best of luck!

Thanks so much for such a well written, detailed and prompt reply! I really appreciate it. Now that I've thought about it more, I think you're spot on with how active a learner you are when you're trying to pull resources/improve by yourself. That's the real driver of improvements. Unless you're really time poor, the private companies/paid resources aren't necessary. Thanks again for all the exceptional resources you're pooling together.

Hi Jesse For the exam as it’s now computer based did you take a white board or you used the 2 papers provided

Nope, I stuck with pencil and paper but I think this is a very personal choice for each person so choose what works best for you
