Beautiful work. Most don't know the planning that goes into etching. I used to do this in the 90's as a side business. I didn't have a plotter, and cut everything with a swivel knife. That and weeding took forever, but the results were great. I also had a little Paasche abrasive airbrush to etch gradients and shadowing. I couldn't get enough people to want the product though in my area, so I let it go by the wayside. I like your specialized cabinet too.

Hi Arnold, thanks for your kind comment. I've been etching glass for 25 years, before I got my plotter I used to cut the templates by hand too. I'm very glad of modern technology to speed this process up. However, weeding still takes a very long time!

nice thing about the interwebs is you can reach thousands of potential clients. the problem with a lot of side gigs is the people wait around for work to come to them instead of going out and hustlin' (not that you did, it's just a general comment). then they don't have a legit business and treat it like a garage hobby. people actually still love this stuff, so i wonder if you got back into it you'd do better today....

@thestainedleadedglasscompa3180

Hi Imran, Thank you for your kind comment. The effect is achieved by blasting more in the area you want to be most etched and blasting less in the area you want clearer. This creates the gradient effect. It's all done by careful use of the sand blasting gun and is planned into the design. I hope this is helpful.
