I’ve been waiting for this! I love how the first element to this lead departure that you speak of is about “us“ the humans. I think so many of us forget that animals work off our energy. The most important thing is just stay relaxed and to stay connected to our horse and make sure that our horse is staying below its threshold.🙏🏼☺️

I'm really glad you said that. As an equitation/horsemanship rider I am a stickler for rules and to demonstrate as the pattern as written. So as you said it doesn't say walk three steps than lope, so if I were judging I would prefer the lope off (if it were performed nicely) over a few steps of walking of equal visual execution.

Hi again MATT Simply uncomplicated! I prefer out of the standstill because it's clean and sharp looking and helps toward that higher score. Acceptable with the steps but not as polished looking and how I described. One of the things I've carefully watched for in your vids and I know you easily could be tightening things up a bit by from the stand thing! Especially with the caliber horses you're riding. Lol you're too darn good to not be doing it that way lol! Seriously! And you know every point counts!! Thx as always for sharing. Enjoy each and every vid with your many tips and great advice...

I've been struggling with smooth lope departure for quite sometime. It worked today, tomorrow didn't. I tried this, I tried that with conflicting results. The more I checked to straighten him up the more crooked or forced the departure was. I went straight to try this after watched the video and the horse understood from the first time! If I'll manage to make him keep the head down, will be even better. Maybe I should have a "Mimosa" drink too while I'll try this, hmmm ...

Is there any way I can get my Reiner to pick up more in the Lope? She's lazy in the forehand.
@mattmillsreining14 жыл бұрын
Start with a voice cue and then add pressure with your until she lopes off and then release. You’ve got to be patient and consistent! Start from the trot so you’ve got her feet moving already. Then try from a walk and standstill. You Can do it!

I hate how there are a lot of videos on flying lead changes but nobody in them says the actual cues so the rider understands how to ask their horse.
