If you square -2, then you will get 4, not -4. shouldn't it be plus/minus two?

BlueThunder the negative is outside the square root, so it basically multiplied with the 2 inside

What if you have a bracket with more than 2 numbers in it, for instance: 6 7 ( 3 - 4 2 + 2 5)

Hi I’m doing a question now I got from maths genie it is : Expand and simplify (2x + √5) (1-√5) I’ve expanded it andgot to 2 - 2√5 + √5 -5 But when I looked on solutions it cancelled out the -2√5 + √5 but I don’t understand why Hopefully you get what I mean Thanks
