I swear to god, My professor explained this to me more than 10 times for over a year, plus I read many articles and tutorials, but I still couldn't understand it totally, until I saw your video. thank you Sir, you have an amazing talent for explaining difficult concepts. Thank you again.

Thank you for posting this! I found this (ANOVA) to be well explained...I mean VERY WELL explained. I'm a grad student, using these statistics for pretty much the first time. I now feel confident in completing this assignment. Thanks for laying out the principles of interpretation with such clarity!

Cheers mate, had a hell of a time this term with the stats module. Were sat in an IT suite but they teach it through teams to different classes and my god...the mic never works or the monitor so we just do the worksheets but following the instructons doesnt teach you how to interpret or understand the data.

Yes it is similar but you have the influence of two variables on the dependent one.

why did you use ANOVA when you compared between gender? Isn't it used only to compare more than 2 variables?
@wdivale6 жыл бұрын
Lama. If you data has a normal distribution you can use ANOVA for any number of categories. If you only have two groups and your data is not normal, you can use the Student's T test.

Is the p-value dependent on the F value? Let's say in the first example, the F = 0.34 and the sig. = 0.561, does this sig(0.561) depend on this F(0.34)?
@wdivale6 жыл бұрын
Yes, The F statistic is a function of the difference in means between the groups, the variation in the standard deviations of the group, and the N of the groupe. The F statistic then determines the P value.

How would I prepare a table (consisting of Likert-Scale data) to be evaluated with a ANOVA?
@wdivale5 жыл бұрын
If the likert scale variable has several points of measurement, you can use it as an interval scale and run your ANOVA. But be sure to mention this as a weakness when you report the result.
@lestrike27075 жыл бұрын
@@wdivale Does this mean I will multiply the amount of answers per Question by the according value? Example: Poeple shall evaluate the perceived fear-level of two shown images by answereing 4 question each. Now would I summarize the mean of each question like this: Assuming that it's a 5 point likert-scale and the following numbers are the amount of people who chose answer the according answer (5 is (++) etc.): Question 1: ++:19| +: 3| 0: 10| -:2| --: 8 Would I now do it as the following: 19*5| 3*4| 10*13| 2*2| 8*1 -> 249/5 (to get the mean value) = 49,8. And now I put the 49,8 into the first value of the according picture. After I repeated the process for each question I can now use the ANOVA for comparison? thanks in advance!
@wdivale5 жыл бұрын
It seems like your four questions, each with a five point scale or response, need to be a summative scale. If the four questions are about different aspects of the same topic, you have a sumative scale. This means for each subject, you add the four responses. The scale score for each subject whould than have a range of from 4 to 20 (4 x 1 = 4 or 4 x 5 =20). This scale score can then be used as the dependent variable in your ANOVA. However, in creating a summative scale I would also do a reliability test of the scale using Crombach's Alfa (This is in SPSS). To be reliable, your Alfa score should be at least above .7. What is your independent variable?
