I always love a moss pole video! But do you know what has helped me just as much? Not being scared to snip a leaf or stem when needed! You helped me get over that apprehension :) We are all nervous about clipping our plants but sometimes its for the best!

Great content! In June this year, I started growing my small-leaf monstera this way, and it's doing so well! I was skeptical at first, but this is definitely the best way to grow them big indoors!

Thank you for this tutorial. It was very clear and you answered all my moss pole related questions. My main issue has always been stability, esp. when it is wet and top heavy (my moss pole is currently over 1,2 m tall, after the previous chop, and needs extention very soon, it´s 11 cm wide plastic, which supports 3 plants). I´ll try some more tips from your video to improve its stability. I´m also considering adding some smaller stones to the bottom of the pot around the pole to increase its stability and bottom drainage.

I was thinking about chop & extend this weekend, and was going to search through your past videos. I've had my adansonii on a moss pole for less than a year. This is my moss pole trial. I've chopped and extended it 3 times. It started off with 3" leaves & spindly stems. Leaves are now 8/9" long with very think stems. Three stems on the pole. I always chop a few inches off the bottom and extend from the top, now I'm going to chop about 10". At the moment it's nearly 6ft. Hopefully, next year I'll be able to extend the way you do. Thank you. Hi to Brad 🪴😺 ps sorry for the long message and yes the rod does keep the pole upright 😊

I have more challenges extending my plastic backed poles. Besides attaching the garden stake to the back, the plastic backed aren’t as sturdy as my wire only poles and the weight of the wet pole can be a problem Trying to engineer my way through!! Thanks for your regular videos. They do help a lot

Holy cow Jan I'm the first comment buddy! Heck yeah! Have you ever considered putting something unconventional on a moss pole like a dragon fruit cactus? They climb trees and require support to retain a good growth structure and reaching for light and nutrients similar to aroids.
@mnj640

They would need full sun to flower or fruit? I've seen lots of people growing them outside on structures.

My first mosspole is now 2 years old. Even with knowing everything about extending it, I struggled big times with the last extension. xD Mainly because I had to add a plastic backing afterwards because the pole would dry out to fast during summer. The pole is now about 170cm high and a collection of trials and errors. :D As my segments are quite short, it already had 2 extensions. And... it stands without a garden stake... in a 17cm pot and decorative pot. But! Do not do this at home! 😂 It's getting unstable. And probably only didn't collapse until now because of the added plastic backing. But my Adansonii loves her life on the pole, so I probably should go and buy a garden stake soon... 😅

I have a Rhapidophora tetrasperma with multiple thick vines. I have a wooden trellis that came with it but it really doesn’t work great and the plant needs it to grow leaves rather than runners What I’m curious in is whether you’ve made a super wide (8-10in maybe?) moss pole with a plastic backing to accommodate a plant like that?

Hello! For pole stability I went a but extreme but would like to share it. So I have the pole tied to the plastic nursery pot, a cache pot that is a perfect fit for the nursery pot (I use an Ecopot for this), and then an outer pot for stability. Then the space in between the Ecopot and outermost pot I pour plaster with the Ecopot still inside (weighted down with weights so it won’t float). Once the plaster is cured that f**ker is going nowhere. Just don’t accidentally drop it on your foot. 😂

So can you technically just chop the plant with a moss pole and not repot it? I mean you did say it was an extension so, is it possible just to have plant with a moss pole with the plant to act almost like a hanging plant?
