But one of the line states that at the max she can stay only 180 days in india [ wea re planning to come back US after 180 days]. Currently we got oci card for her and do we need to follow the process to extend the current evisa[clarification here is she got one year visa] or change visa to oci and also what happen during port of entry from india to USA travel if we are not doing this.

@@ansar133 this is incorrect. the OCI website clearly states that you cannot apply for OCI while in India. and you have to be a resident of India which means a continuous stay of 180 days which is the visa limit to begin with. so basically everyone including the frro people are confused. Foreign nationals cannot apply for OCI in India while on Tourist Visa, Missionary Visa and Mountaineering Visa. Moreover, the foreigner has to be ordinarily resident of India to be eligible to apply for OCI registration in India. Note: 'ordinarily resident' will mean a person staying in a particular country or in India for a continuous period of 6 months.

@@tejasg56 make sure to book an actual plane ticket and plan for it to be about 10 days from now. Don’t book it for more than that or you might have to pay extra fees. Typically FRRO replies within 1-2 days and will issue your visa extension. But avoid using a dummy ticket since they can easily detect it which could make some problems.

Hi Suja, I have applied for my 2 years old OCI(US Citizen by Birth) on 30th December 2021 which was acknowledged by OCI services on 1st Jan 2022. The OCI is showing Under process(39 days). I have received e-Visa (Tourist - 30 days Validity) approved.I have to travel on 1st March and want to stay for 2 months or more . So could you please suggest the best way on which Visa can my child enter and exit please.

Thank you for informative video @Suja Prakash. Situation = We arrived with newborn baby in India with 1 year Entry-Visa and then later I physically got the OCI when travelled alone. We tried to convert our kid Status for Entry Visa conversion to OCI from FRRO online and we provided all documents including OCI copy. But they rejected it stating that we have to Contact OCI office, not sure if they really read the whole request document 😞 Where I am staying doesn't have FRRO office should I go to SP police of our city. Please let us know is it really possible to convert Status from Entry visa to OCI. Most of the forum stated to visit nearby country and then re-entry in India with OCI to update Status. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

@@joyjaga I applied for entry Visa extension. FRRO provided us for another 1 year. It's seems FRRO don't understand about visa to OCI Conversion. So now I have one more year which is sufficent before I Travel out and return with OCI status for my daughter

Hi Suja, I have an urgent query. My friend is oci holder but her US passport is expiring in March. She has travel plan to India in December first week. They got the tickets already. Can she travel with this passport or she has to get it renewed as it will expire in less than 6 months?

I believe she can travel to India with her existing U.S passport. But your friend must come back to United States before her U.S passport expires in March. She cannot live in India past U.S passport expiration since she is OCI card holder. I hope I answered your question. But let's see what dear: Suja Prakash has to say.

Please verify with the airline, some airline won’t allow boarding with less than 6 months validity passport.. you can return back even with less than 6 months validy because your returning to home country

Iam currently trying to submit eFRRO form for my 2yr old and its not allowing to "Complete submission form" at the end and asking to upload mandatory Registration Certificate. I thought RC is received after the submission and approval from FRRO. Please help as I couldn’t find this info anywhere else.

If I go to india on tourist visa and stay for continuos period of 6 months then can I apply for oci in india? Since tourist visa allows u to stay 180 days and we can apply for oci after 180 days minimum stay can I convert my tourist visa to oci ?

Did you go after obtaining appointment by them or just walked in? If you follow the step mentioned in video, they will give appntment and approve subject to more docs and payment of fees.

Please don’t provide misleading information e visa cannot be converted to OcI while you are in India. You have to exit and re enter to get on OCI

What about this ? Copy pasting instructions from OCI website In case application is submitted in India, copy of any type of Visa (other than Missionary Visa, Tourist Visa and Mountaineering Visa)/ Residential Permit with 3 months validity as on the date of application.
