At my Immigration office, they do a home visit and take pictures of the house and require two neighbors to sign forms and have their pictures taken. I think that they took about 7 pictures all together. Easy, no driving. They always seem friendly.

Hi Larry, The only time Buriram IMO came to our house was when I made my first application. After that they have not been to visit. I enjoy going in and don't mind spending a bit of time to chat. The way I see it. They are there to help, so why not be friendly and chat about life and ask any queastions rather than reading the jungle drums on FB and the like.

@@lemonfarmthailand I'm about to do my first 1 year marriage visa, currenlty on the 90 day non-immi visa, so we visited our Immi office in Maha Sarakham last week to have a chat about their requirements. They were absolutely fantastic. Very helpful in identifying any missing paper work and advising the steps to take. I'll be back there is another 3 weeks to get it all done, hopefully without issue.

For many years I have had a retirement visa which is 'normally' super easy at my Chayaphoum office but last year turned into a nightmare. A new boss started enforcing stuff I had never had to conform with. I was told my 6 month statement had to be a 12-month one so I returned to my local Bangkok bank and asked for one. They said I had to order one and wait 1 week by which time I would be on overstay!! Big discussion at the office and they said I could get a marriage extension with a 6 month statement. Had a 100 mile roundtrip back home to take photos, gather paperwork etc and next day got a 30 day extension while waiting for approval + I had to have a police visit to my home to verify I lived there despite having done 90-day reports for the last 15 years from this address!. This year was able to get back on a retirement with just a 6 month statement as it was a 'new' application but next year, I need a 12 month one, what a headache. None of this was the regular officers fault and they were very sympathetic but when a new boss arrives with new ideas then watch out!!

Yes, a lot of people have similar experiences with new bosses coming in and changing things up! Buriram has had 3 new bosses since I started living here and nothing has changed in terms of service. If there have been any changes to paperwork or requirements, they make you aware before hand either, when you do a 90 day report or via Line. For sure, each IMO office is different, but I have nothing but praise forr these men and women at Buriram. Hope next time is better for you buddy. 🍋🍋

Great guy in Buriram ,my first experience with the 60 day visa on entry was good, Buriram for 30 day extension and then border crossing for another 90 days

Do we have to go to the nearest Immigration Office we live in or can we just go to the recommended one? They say Jomtien, although along way away for many of us are terrific...Make it a mini Holiday...

Hi Michael. I go to my local IMO because they are super friendly and helpful. It really does depend on yourself. I don't use an agent so getting things done in a smaller immigration office is often quicker and less time consuming. The thing to remember is that every immigration office is different and have their own quirks. So, as they say here, up to you my friend, do what makes you happy. 🍋🍋😎😎

Non o retirement visa 800000 in bank 3 months before and 3 months after and no less 400000 baht and I had to draw a map of the road from immigration to where I live

I had to draw a map. I am on a support visa for my son and as you only need 400k rather than the 800k for retirement or 500k for marraige, I chose that one. Also, it seems far less paperwork than the other two. Every immigration office is different and each seem to have their own interpretation of the rules. I can't knock Buriram because they are genuinely a nice bunch of people. 🍋🍋
