HOW TO FAIL Motor replacement on my air compressor

I'm having the same problem with my Campbell Hausfeld compressor, going on one week of diagnosis ran it off the same Predator generator that you have which only supplies 15 amps on the 120 side you need to pull it from the 30 amp twist lock side I learned that the Emerson Motors are 4.5 horse and need tons of amperage to run the low torque side remember it's a two-stage motor there's a flywheel inside that clicks after a certain RPM and clicks back when the motor turns off , so after losing my mind trying to figure out why the low torque side doesn't work I went and bought an identical unit that was working perfectly fine at the guy's house started up with no struggle at all, he did not use any extension cords just straight into the garage Outlet, I brought it home and plugged it into my 3500 Watt predator on the 120 side 15 amp Max. It started up but didn't sound strong on the startup like in his garage , after a couple more times of starting it up it started humming like my older unit, I was Furious, but I learned what happened because it was struggling for more amperage it burnt out the contact for the low torque flywheel mechanism there is a small contact in there that disengages when it goes into high speed the contact is the weak point on the Emerson Motors, so I learned these compressors are not like modern dinky weak compressors with only two horse motors, they are professional grade heavy duty made in US just like the label says, they need LOTS OF POWER or else you will burn the low torque startup contact inside the motor which you can go in with 220 sandpaper and clean them to get it working again . The motor specs say it runs at 15 amps LR load rating amps are 98 amps these motors are no slouch, as I'm writing this I'm at Walmart trying to find a heavy duty adapter to tap into the 30 amp twist lock side of my Predator 3500, also leave the Eco button off on the generator. If that doesn't work I'm going to use my champion 4000 w with the 30 amp receptacle on it. Like I said this is going on a week because I need this compressor to paint a car, this has been driving me nuts trying to figure what is going on , conclusion when the motor tries to draw more power than it can get it will burn out the startup low torque contact and even if you plug it into a good wall outlet the contact is still burnt out you'll have to fix that first before you can give it full juice again to operate properly hopefully this helps somebody out and saves their time

Wow great info… I recently shopped for the 30a adapter too and no stores had any I had to go to Lowes which had the correct connector and I bought a couple feet of proper size wire there and made my own adapter with a good 20a regular plug so I get clean 30a not through the smaller plugs on the genny

@@KenMrKLCyou didnt fail. It just was time for a nice new one. Im in the trenches right now replacing a motor for $289 off amazon for my old red husky 60 gallon compressor. Hopefully it fixes it. Mine worked well then just wouldnt turn on one day.

Maybe Unloader valve / check valve on compressor not releasing load on startup.

Many of the small generators cant start induction motor, because they cannot supply enough reactive power to the motor. And shortage of reactive power causes voltage drop avalanche. That was 99% the case. Unless you had seized bearings or other mechanical drag problem. Nice vid tho :D

Unload er valve or wired for 240 but hey you rely wanted a new one and now you have one oh by the way do you sell tools ? like new compressors ?

That generator is not powerful enough to provide start current needed for inrush starting current. PROBABLY need a 9k or 12,000 watt generator

the problem just was the one way valve... you just dont mind the air circuit only the electric system... and with this NEW and GAS compresor you can get the same problem one day... funny to see your angry face driving hahaha
