i actually want to get into judo just because i've taken slams at like 20+ MPH and *mostly* walked them off, so why not learn another martial art that's even lower impact than concrete & asphalt and will teach me to roll even better?

@pixelcultmedia42522 ай бұрын
The only thing that has to be modified is the back-break fall. If you slap the concrete with your hands you can break your hand. I almost did it turning my hand black from the bruising. It's safer to slap the ground with your triceps at the same time, similar to a pro-wrestling "bump" rather than a judo breakfall.

Thanks for the tips! My best falls is when the side of my body plops down like a bodyslam, but not my first instinct. I stick out my hand to fall, and I'm heavy. Taking a little break at the moment. My thumb was hurting so bad in the fleshy part under the joint. I couldn't hold a barre chord on a guitar without it feeling pretty gross. My wrist pain left after using a d30 double-sided wrist band for a while. But some injuries aren't obvious until it gets bad. You can skate with a bad wrist or shoulder til you fall on it and cry for five minutes, so do try to let injuries heal correctly, too.

The same thing applies to motorcycling. When a car suddenly blocks your path, you need to either gradually apply brake pressure or swerve to escape the collision. This can be done by practicing said options and staying alert to your surroundings.

My problem is not falling as such, but getting off the board safely. When I realise that the grind is getting too tight, I try to jump off the board. but sometimes I get my front foot caught on the griptape, which creates a pretty dangerous situation because the fall suddenly becomes uncontrolled or I can't control that I don't step on the board uncontrollably with my standing leg. Any tips?
