"if you don't have the information, don't" is really engrained for me after today, not usually a carry but i made the mistake of farming without seeing the enemy and fed quite a few times. also, the starting a minute farming the medium camps on dire side, is probably what got me to understand the concept of how to plan to start each minute. thank you BSJ

Thanks BSJ for another informative video! Can tell you've been really working on keeping your presentation of ideas concise, which is making your content doubly impactful and digestible. One thing about the idea of passing creeps for more aggressive map positioning (5:42) - you say that "Note that it's not generally worth starting the minute farther forward if you're passing creeps." at 5:50. At that time in the game, you saw heroes bottom and so were looking to get even farther up on the map at the start of the minute, however you said to prioritise clearing creeps around you (while still looking to position farther up). Wouldn't it be better at that point to stack the safer camp, and then still start your minute at the medium camp further up? That way, given the additional time you bought yourself at 5:05, you effectively gain yourself 2-3 additional camps IF the opponent responds to your aggressive positioning, which is what it seems like you're looking for. Almost like a "hope for the best, prepare for the worst" situation that still allows you get the top wave and thus get tower pressure, while still securing efficient farm. Sorry if my question / idea wasn't clear! Cheers.

After 4 years of Dota playing support and trying to learn carry I have finally realized that "farming patterns" actually means this and not actual patterns thar you should follow to optimize time.
@truegodmadara94892 жыл бұрын
Majority of the players think in the way "I've got N heroes on my lane and my carry didn't hit 11 mins 6 items wtf", and also calculating impact as kills, not some minor moves in the game like pushing waves and checking objectives. I was literally blamed last week for not having my bfury as PA in 15 mins while i was 1st: in a bad match-up, 2nd: wasn't able to see where enemy team is on the map. I won that game after muting the guy who was blaming, but it says a lot about dota players.
@ItsPhilH2 жыл бұрын
Perhaps worth considering what vision you needed to farm your way back into the game and then aiding your supports in establishing that vision for you so you can more aggressively farm without risk of overextending, spending more time farming creep waves with knowledge of what’s coming your way so you can either farm away or tp and reset if needed. If your timings are late, that’s down to you missing last hits or farming inefficiencies and it’s up to you to fix that (or enabling your supports to fix that for you). If other players are complaining about having a lot of heroes in their lane and you’re not farming your lane creeps as a result, you’re throwing.

BSJ, you should make an update to the deadlane concept. It seems to have changed a bit, as they've changed triangle to two camps etc. Or I guess deadlane means to just dodge them as much as possible in the early game, unless you have a ult ready or something similar.

This violently describes my gameplay years ago when I transition from playing support to carry roles on mid, off or safe. Wayback then, I was ancient7star support spamming grimstroke and disruptor warlock. But when the recalibration happened i got into legend then archon to crusader. 2k mmr carries seldom know how to survive and farm their bkbs way too late when even the pos4 nuker of the enemy can solo kill them. That's why I had to play and learn carry like FV and PA.

BSJ I like this video. I try to implement this a lot in my games, but often, my teammates are taking my "backwards path" towards the start of the minute (such as triangle when I am top like you are). Not sure how to address this :/ So, not only am I having to pay a lot of attention to the enemy, I have to equally watch my teammates because they're constantly taking farm in what, to me, is an obvious path I am going to be taking. Any tips on this in a future video would be appreciated. This happens too often to be smoking every time.

This video is nice but implies your team respects your farming patterns and are not trying to snag those jungle camps for themselves
@ItsPhilH2 жыл бұрын
Your comment is nice but implies you misunderstood the entire point of the video. If you think every creep camp on the map is yours unquestionably all the time, you’re doing it wrong and probably in the completely wrong part of the map for that moment in time. If you actually watch the video, you’ll see there are multiple times where BSJ runs into a teammate around the minute mark and they simply farm away from each other (and back towards different lanes) that next minute as both will have a creep wave to then farm (which provides more gold than every camp except ancients). If you’re letting enemy creep waves push uncontested all the way back to tier 2s and 3s while the enemy are showing all their kill threats on the other side of the map, you’re actively throwing.
@parham10232 жыл бұрын
@@ItsPhilH your reply is nice but it implies that you did not understand what the oc said: what he ment was that there are times that people are assholes and will just run into triangle, and kill the ancients while clearly that was your next camp to farm after shoving the top and farming the medium camp.

@@parham1023 if you’re clearing a creep wave and then farming a hard camp before an ancient camp, you’re throwing and honestly deserve to have the farm taken off you as punishment for being so braindead. This gives massive “buying shadow blade as a defensive item instead of as a ganking/initiation tool” vibes. Bounty values are as follows: ancient camp, creep wave, hard camp, medium camp, small camp. Your farming rotations should always prioritise creep waves and ancient camps first as at any moment an enemy rotation could force you from that area before you’ve fully cleared it. In a creep wave or camp, you should always prioritise killing the highest bounty creep(s) first as you may be forced out before you can even fully clear it due to needing to flee or advance to an advantageous team fight. Every second matters, stop wasting them.

Since this is a dated video, I'm not expecting a reply but at lower MMRs should these concepts be applied for supports? During times where it is necessary to shove the opponents safelane as a support i.e. when our team's carry isn't fulfilling that role, or is afraid to do so - should supports also aggressively take enemy farm or disregard and play with the team to make space for the carry?

Quick question: Let’s say I’m farming camps/waves and a teammate comes over to farm the same camp or a wave nearby (affecting both our farm), even though the was more (unsafe/no vision) farm on the other side of the map. What’s a better approach than me telling him to bring a ward with him when he farms in an unsafe location?
@ItsPhilH2 жыл бұрын
Instead of burdening a fellow core, ask your supports if you can help them establish vision so you can farm more safely. Ask them to pick up as many sentries and observers as you need and then explain where you’d like vision checked/countered/set up and how to do it if they’re not already aware (E.g. sentry on the low ground to check multiple spots and use a skill to check high ground if they or you have the means). Once you’ve helped them set it up, farm the nearest creep wave and then set your farming patterns around the established vision.
@mc.wildchild2 жыл бұрын
That's why there're are farm priorities. Whoever has priority stays, the other one, looks somewhere else. Even though it might be safer for a HC to farm dead lane at times, if you stay with him in the same area you are actively crippling yourself and the other one. Sometimes, offlaner/mid pick carries and they farm as such. You need to have an early recognition of when this might happen, and adjust your farming expectancies accordingly. BSJ did a Jug video explaining how to shift your farming depending on your team's picks.

On low mmr you get whatever you can cvuz your mid is farming , your support is taking safe farm, your offlane is farming and you get whatever you can wherever you can without dying. Fucking bullshit from these "high mmr guru". Let me tell you the secret to going from 2k to 6k just like that if you have the game knowledge, but you don't have time to climb with 55% winrate because of all the smurfs - watch smurfs on meepo and Arc. Copy them, lose 50 games , lose 100 games, learn the hero. Then enjoy your 80% winrate, even with people feeding in your team once you go on a win streak and the mathcmaker sends you bad players. Get to 5k only then you start to play something resembling Dota where this will help you. I mean this helps in 2k too, it's just that it takes a shit ton of time to climb at 55% winrate while enduring the teammates you will get literally the second you go on a big winstreak. Call it bullshit, I call this bullshit. Well if you enjoy playing with people that don't know anything about Dota and can afford to climb for a year watch BSJ here and there for tip a or two that works mostly in environment where people play dota and supports exist.
