Best short video I have seen so far about sharpening your axe. I recently purchased a kit and have checked multiple videos regarding sharpening an axe. This was one of the best short one that I have seen. Nice and cheers.

Excellent instructions. I use a four inch dual sided flat stone but I do it the exact same way. I toss the stone in a creek or my canteen cup first so it gets really saturated with water. Makes that good polishing slurry when you do that.

I LOVE that the axe comes with the puck. We'd actually take that with us. Gloves should be mandatory, but so many of us just skip ahead to save 15 seconds. Sadly, it only takes about .15 seconds to mangle your hand if you slip. I also love how sturdy that hatchet's handle has to be.

@johannesalexandrius574910 жыл бұрын
great tip. Thanks schrade. I love the way the Puck stone is shaped, unlike my carborundum stone. Your Puck takes lesser space than my stone which is rectangular in shape. It is because of this shape that my stone broke into half. Also, my appreciation for recommending a clockwise motion when sharpening the axe. I don't know how effective this will be if I use your recommendation because I use to sharpen my axe in a counter-clockwise fashion. It works just fine. But I will give your recommendation a try. When I was just starting to learn how to sharpen an ax, I use to grind the stone in a vertical motion, grinding against the axe blade while it is pointed up, holding the handle against my body. But I heard that I is more easier to sharpen an axe in a circular motion, and that is how I sharpen my axe now
