Some things to add from a Luke player About st HP into sandblast: - good Luke players will cancel into M sandblast if they're fairly close, so it will be a true blockstring (so no gap). Perfect parry won't work there - if they're further away, they'll do L sandblast, which is always a true blockstring - if you're in the corner, Luke players often cancel into H sandblast, which is never a true blockstring. So perfect parry or DP that About his f HP target combo: - you won't be able to interrupt the target combo with a jab if the Luke player hit it meaty after certain knockdowns (because there's a smaller gap), just be aware of that. Mainly in the corner

One thing I really like about these guides is they remind you how simple some matchups are, because you just have to focus on the key, strong tools that characters rely on. Many of us don't like to admit that the reason we're losing most matchups isn't really playing the matchup wrong, it's that what we're doing in general isn't even playing the matchup in the first place. Love these guides, they're so good.

A couple of things - -stand HP into LP sandblast is a true blockstring and safe from the proper spacing, pretty much have to try to whiff punish or get a lucky drive impact -you can DP or even do many invincible supers against stand HP sandblast strings that forward HP target combo from Luke, there are setups where they're very meaty and you can't interrupt with a 4f, it becomes a frametrap I would use everything in this vid, but also remember Luke is very vulnerable to perfect parry drive rush with his fireball, even if he tries to fake it. Crouch MP is very broken for sure, its hard to get close to Luke or challenge him up close because most Lukes will just press crouch MP regardless if they're minus or plus. Usually they go into DR, your best bet is to not challenge and make them waste the DR meter. It's possible to whiff punish it but very difficult.

I usually punish Luke heavy knuckle with Drive Impact when he doesn't have super lvl 3. Or sometimes i just ex DP it. An intterupt with jab seems kinda dangerous because of the trade. Maybe a sweep more effective than a jab?

Yea best option for all characters is to just neutral jump it because it neutralises his lvl 3 option of hp perfect knuckle. I feel like jabbing it is just setting yourself up for a counterhit.

Angrybird explained why Drive Impact isn't always a good idea. Sometimes you won't be aware of his super meter and if he has lvl 3 or not. And by the time you check his super meter after seeing his H knuckle, it's too late. So it's important to constantly be aware of his meter if you wanna Drive Impact.

You can DI unless he cancels into od fireball, you can also OD DP before the fireball

Angrybird please, you know that luke and ken dont have the same tools. Luke has an (arguably) better st.hp because of range but it requires DR to actually combo from it and a better cr.mp hands down. Ken can convert 2700 dmg from his st.hp without DR cancel, he has a 4f st.jab (lukes 7f and non cancellable) that you yourself use to great success with DR. Ken st.hk is a monster of a move in itself because it chunks the DG and converts to good damage and corner travel on CH. Kens st.mk on counterhit (not punish counter mind you because then cr.mk works after st.mk hit) converts to a combo (not the target combo but st.lk xx hp shoryuken) Lukes doesnt (i think Kens has better range as well because he moves forward with it but unsure on this point). Ken also has a faster drive rush than luke (38f vs 45f for full dash). I like your videos except the ones when you make comparisons vs Ken because the downplay is just borderline ridiculous at this point.

It’s more about the advantages each character has in certain situations. Most characters have limited options but the higher rank aka better weapons they have. The easier it is to win especially when they have moves that do almost everything for you.

I'd love to see a guide on how to beat Dhalsim. I feel like he's very slept on and I struggle pretty hard against him. I honestly feel like he has potential but not many people play him which makes the matchup even harder to learn.

Sim is just boring to play, that's why he's so rare. Character is no joke though. Would definitely like to see how the Birds approach him.

SF6 Sim is nowhere as deadly as he was in 5, only super dedicated players can play him correctly, I main Honda, and I don't struggle that much against Sim at Master level... in SF6 the universal mechanics make him less efficient, you can parry projectiles, perfect-parry his long limbs attacks from fullscreen etc... If not played correctly, there are many exploitable gaps in his offense, you can punish his long limbs from full screen, he can be an easy target while floating, his reversal options are quite poor, you can predict his fireballs and armor through it or use an OD projectile, and he just dies when in burnout.

no, it's called plinking and was pretty important in previous games (most notably sf4). not even remotely as useful (at least from what i know) in 5 and 6, but maybe helps with input consistency, or can just be muscle memory/habit of older players

no they dont. but the game comes with negative edge turned on (input release counting as a press sometimes). you can turn it off.
