How to fill a large hole in a fiberglass panel, and install a new Speaker... or NOT!

I've got 2 Fiberglass panels, with giant oval holes in them, from large, oval, indoor speakers. The boat came with them. I am removing them, sealing up the holes, and installing proper Marine Speakers. Let's do it!

A little tip, when sanding bondo, wait till it's almost dry and start sanding, use anything course, 40 grit or cheese grader, goes so much faster and a whole lot easier..they call it wet sanding, did body work for many years and that tip saved me many hours...nice job brother..

Great job of not using an exact science and yet getting the job done well. I was wondering, instead of painting on the fiberglass resin could you dip the cloth in the resin and smooth it out on the surface you're repairing? Really great how to video, by the way!

I find brushing it is the way to go. The fiberglass becomes an absolute birds nest from hell otherwise. Resin is SO sticky. Fiberglass MATT may work that way.

Hello l have 4-6x9 holes in my boat I will have to repair in place could l use tape to hold the wax paper up or what do you think would work also instead of bondo l would like to use gelcoat to match what’s your thoughts loved you videos

Could put card board behind it, with a hole, and string through it. Tie a not at the end, and use it to hold the cardboard in place, as a backer, while you patch it up.

Can try getting a backer, using firm cardboard or similar. Make a hole in the center, tie a string through it, and use the string to hold the backer in place. When it's cured, just cut the string, and cover up it's hole

Thanks for your opinion. I opened Excel, and created a spread sheet, I then took my my Scientific calculator, crunched some numbers, and came up with a figure, that's within a +/- 0.01% margin of error, of the exact amount of f*cks I give, about said opinion. After checking, and rechecking my work, I was able to verify that number to be: ZERO +/- 0.01
