a) you're wrong on the bit about filling in the form for yourself as the sponsoring spouse. a Canadian citizen/PR who is sponsoring would not need to provide travel details, as Canada has them already - either because you are a born citizen or because you provided them to the govt when you applied for PR/citizenship. b) what above family members that are not being sponsored? do we need to include all the trips the applicant's father, mother and brothers have taken too? they aren't immigrating to Canada.

Hi, thanks for the informative video. I am a Canadian PR since 2018 and now applying for my wife's Spousal PR sponsorship. Since the description on top of IMM 5562 mentions all trips "taken outside of their country of origin OR OF RESIDENCE in the last 10 years" , should I include all my sponsor) trips between India & UAE (where I was on Residence visa for 10 years)? - - - We have included all trips for the Principal Applicant (wife).

I really don't think there is a cross-referencing that IRCC offices do with the passport stamps. If you want to keep your mind at peace then feel free to add a letter of explanation along. In my opinion, it does not really matter.

Thanks..very informative. I have a question..In the online form, as a sponsor with your permanent residence why did u need to put in your travel information? Instructions. say "You (the principal applicant) must fill out this form for yourself and on behalf of any of your family members 18 years of age or older who are not already Canadian citizens or permanent residents." Am I getting it wrong?
@OleCanada
@OleCanada 2 жыл бұрын
No, you are getting it totally right and it is in fact the same interpretation we had. But when we were doing the application ourselves we never got a 100% sure shot answer either if Sponsor is required to enter travels or not. To be safe, we ended up providing travel information of the Sponsor as well. We were doing paper based application that too during Covid period when IRCC was known to be ULTRA-SLOW in processing and RETURNING applications. I have mentioned this in the video as well (1:41 - Who IMM5662 form is for?). Hope this helps. And all the best to you guys!

Hi there, your videos are quite helpful all the way through. I am still confused about whether my wife who is sponsor needs to fill out her travel history as she came to visit me 3 years ago for getting married. I know this question has been raised many times but I need one affirmative answer to proceed with it. I trust you more than I trust the glossary of IRCC. Looking for a positive answer. Thank you

Rightly pointed out that it is indeed a very common question and sadly there's different opinions out there. Let me give a definite answer - I (the sponsor) disclosed my travels and our application was processed without any hiccups. Look at this way: you are NOT hiding any information, merely disclosing ALL that you ought to share with an immigration officer. In nutshell, extra info will not affect your app negatively. In one of my previous comments to another viewer on this video I have shared what should be response to a case similar to yours. Hope this helps 🌸

@@OleCanada Very few are as lucky as you to get successful with visa application without any hiccups :) what if it makes trouble for me if I do the same. but anyway as I said I trust you completely, so I'm gonna do the same. I will ask my sponsor to fill up her travel details regardless of being a citizen of Canada. I checked your previous msgz though, a person with a username E L said that he didn't mention travel history and it was okay with him according to the criteria. but I take your words strongly that as far as everything is true, extra info wouldn't cause any trouble for my application.

If Canada is your home-country or the country of permanent residence then it is not required to list the last trip you took to be home (i.e. Canada). The last trip in this case will be the 'trip from Canada to the destination country' which will have 'to-date' as date when you left the 'destination country'. However, if you have newly received your permanent residence in Canada (assuming you are not a Citizen) and this was the first travel into Canada, then you can write the last trip's Destination Country as 'Canada' and 'to-date' as N/A. Sorry for the delay in responding to your comment.

Amazing video. Appreciate it. Please advise on the following: In my case, I am the sponsor (PR moved to Canada just 1 month ago), and my wife is the PA. Am i considered a resident of Canada? I mean, won't my country of residence be Canada now. So should we include the Travel for PR as a trip? Also, I did soft landing in 2019 for 3 days. Will that have an impact?
@OleCanada
@OleCanada 2 жыл бұрын
Your's case is just like ours - sponsor did a soft landing and came back permanently after 2 years. You are considered Resident of Canada. I (Sponsor) included the travel for PR as a trip. So, in nutshell, assuming you have not travelled since you came to Canada last month your travel will look like this (reverse-chrono order): 1. 2022 - Travel to Canada - City where you landed - Purpose: Permanent Immigration 2. ... 3. 2018 - Travel to Canada - City where you did soft landing - Purpose - Immigration Landing 4. Hope this helps and we are glad you found the video helpful. 🌸

I would recommend to list trips to India as well. So it looks something like below: - 2021/MM to 2021/MM - DD days - India - Visiting family - 2019/MM to 2019/MM - DD days - India - Visiting family - 2017/MM to 2019/MM - DD days - Canada - Landing as The reason I say this should be good to disclose is because the instruction refers to disclosing trips taken outside your country of origin OR of residence in the last ten years. Anyways, sharing additional info is not harmful as long as it is not increasing immigration officers work. :) Hope this helps and thank you for your feedback on the videos.

I work in cruise line. So I need to travel different countries for 6-7 months. I have US C1-d ( crew ) Visa. Though I don't live in any country I stay inside the ship. In that case police clearance certificate is required from any countries? ( Except my home country which is India ) Or letter of explanation is good enough to clarify it while submitting my file to IRCC? Sometimes my entry port in one country and exit port is another country But I never stayed any country more than 6 months... thank you
@OleCanada
@OleCanada 2 жыл бұрын
There are 2 points I can make, and I am assuming you are the principal applicant on your application. First, since you are not going ‘out’ of the ship, I am assuming you do not have an entry/exit-stamp on your passport. If not then you should be good to not disclose that in your travel history. However, if you do then you need to disclose that in IMM 5562. In nutshell, any stamps on your passport should be considered as reference of what you enter in IMM 5562. Second, if you have LIVED in any country CUMULATIVELY more than 6 months then you would need the PCC, else not. In either case, providing a Letter of Explanation will definitely help in creasing out any points of confusion. I recommend to substantiate your LoE with your employment proof or anything that can help explain your case. Hope this helps.

Hi Im just confused on how to fill this form. Can you help me? My home country is Philippines. First - 2014 I went to HK to work untill 2019, should I write this? Second - within those years I took vacation to Philippines, should I also write all my trips from HK to PH? Third - 2019 to present Im in Canada to work, should I also write the trip from HK to Canada? Got confused, becoz when I went to hk to work, its already my temporary residence since I stayed there for years, so Im thinking not to put in the form, same when I came to canada, though Im not permanent, I can say that I am residing here, so I think I also dont need to put it. The question in the form is ALL THE TRIPS OUTSIDE YOUR COUNTRY OR RESIDENCE, I think I can consider HK and Canada as my residency since I am living that counrty. And also it says trip, so when I first travel to HK to work, it doesnt consider as trip, coz I stayed for years...it goes to my travel from hk to canada, its not consider trip coz I stayed here for years. My understanding about the trips are just for how many days or weeks. Can you please help me? I fill out the form already but didnt pass my application yet, and I put all my trips from hk to phils and from canada to phils.

If I were you I would write the info you shared as below: 1. 2014-19 - Trip from PH to HK - Purpose (Relocated for work) 2. 2019 - Present - Trip from HK to Canada - Purpose () And along with above would provide a letter of explanation. If your wife is with you in Canada then this form is not relevant. If I assume your wife is now in India then this form becomes relevant. In that case, simple rule of thumb is 'list all travels in last 10 years' out of 'country of residence'. Eg: 1 travel from India to Canada (and back) for purpose as study. 1 travel from Canada to India (and back) for purpose of 'Marriage' etc. Hope you get the gist.

If the country you live in is not your 'home country' then it means you are 'out' of your home-country, AND if the country you live-in is indeed your 'home country' then there's no problem anyways. In either case, the statement 'disclose all your travels outside of home country' still holds true. Btw, I am really impressed by your keen observation. All the best for your application.
