Hi, I am filling out a CSU application for college and it is asking me to input my Parents' adjusted gross income (AGI) for 2022 and my Parents' untaxed income and benefits for 2022. I know the AGI can be found on line 11 of the 1040 form on the 2022 Individual Tax Return, but I want to confirm where I can find the amount for the untaxed income and benefits? Is it line 2a where it says “Tax-exempt interest” or is it line 2b where it says “Taxable interest”? Line 2a is blank, but line 2b has an amount. Which one would I put? Thank you!

Thank you. Question pls. For a zero-filer, one who is not gainfully employed and derives income from (example) buying n selling items on free classified sections just to get by. One who makes approx $12k / year or $1000. .mo, no records of income, single. What would I place on the income portion of 1040? Should I put down 0 (zero) n on tax withheld section also? Or should I put down $12k which is an estimate accompanied by a letter to attest the fact n 0 on the tax withheld portion. ? This is intended to benefit those who have not received their stimulus checks from the start and are being g required to file for 2020 tax returns. Must the federal tax returns be accompanied by state tax returns mandatorily? Much appreciated.

Hello! I've migrated here in the USA last December 2019 and did not receive the 2 stimulus check. I've watch other video and they said that if you did not receive stimulus check you should put it on 1040 form. GREAT VIDEO BTW really helps me out!

Hi Dan, glad to hear that the video was helpful! As for the stimulus checks, if you believe you qualify to receive those checks then yes you should put that information on your Form 1040. You would put this information on line 30 of your Form 1040. In the 2020 Form 1040 instructions: www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i1040gi.pdf page 57 goes over the Recovery Rebate Credit as well as page 59. If you qualify you will receive a tax credit which will reduce the taxes you owe by the stimulus amounts you qualify for. Hope that is helpful!

Line 25 federal income tax withheld. If you are working abroad and tax is withheld where you reside (abroad) do you still claim it as federal tax from a foreign gov? (not the USA).

No you would not, you would generally file a Form 1116 to report foreign taxes and possibly get a foreign tax credit which would show up on line 31 of your 1040 (through Schedule 3)
