Question- I’m licensed- not working in the industry. So I’m bleached out to level 9- toned with Moroccan sand. Not happy with the result and want to tint back to brown. I am 100% gray in the front and salt / pepper in the back. I have about 1 inch outgrowth of gray. Should I use a permanent dye on the outgrowth ? The gray won’t hold the toner since it’s not bleached. Thanks- have enjoyed watching your videos! Very informative !

I have blonde hair and have been wanting to go dark brunette for years, I just haven't done it yet. Do you suggest it? My biggest worry is the blonde grow-out that will happen over time. I'd love your opinion on it! Thanks!! :)
@CourtneyBStylisteducation
@CourtneyBStylisteducation 5 жыл бұрын
Alyssa James definitely growing out a color darker than your natural is more of an upkeep than growing out something lighter than your natural. I would maybe first suggest doing lowlights rather than an all over brown to start out with. That way there is not solid line. If you decide you do not want the dark anymore you will need to get it removed or you will have a noticeable contrast between your new growth and the old color.

I got my hair professionally done . I went from a light blonde to a medium brown. I washed my hair and it was back to blonde!! Will filler prevent my hair from turning blonde after washing?
@CourtneyBStylisteducation
@CourtneyBStylisteducation 4 жыл бұрын
Yes a filler is a necessary part of the formula when tinting back. Also education on how to take care of the hair after receiving a tint back service. Don't use hot water. wait 48 hours to shampoo. And keep appliances her on medium or low. Using the correct shampoo and conditioner is a huge thing. Ph in store bought products are high and can strip the hair of color pigment.

I have a question, I hope you can help me..I have black natural hair, and I did colored my self into ash gray, but now after our holiday in beaches my hair is not gray anymore but it’s just a blonde, now i want to go back into more natural colors that really suits for me, im an Asian, so im a tan. I think brown or Brunette would be suit for my hair color. Can you tell me what should I do first ? Should i just buy a brown color and apply it? Or it will not turn to brunette immediately? Can you tell me how I would do it?
@CourtneyBStylisteducation

Staying brown is your safest bet. Someone highlights would be pretty also. I would recommend going to see a professional stylist. I can’t tell you what to use not knowing your history of chemicals you have put on your hair, exact color now etc. find a picture and take it to a stylist. You can find one through recommendations.

Maribel Gray I don’t right now. If that were the case I would most likely apply the grey coverage cover to the regrowth first. The go through and add the highlights. And depending on how light they wanted the blond to be I would probably put them in foils. 😊

Hi I’m a aspiring hairdresser and want to know if it’s better to dye hair when it’s dirty or clean? I’ve heard that it’s better to dye it when it’s dirty because it will hold the color better but now I’m watching your video and your cleansing her hair so I’m just sorta confused on what way works best.

That’s an old myth. Color used to be oil based and oil attracts oil so I’m assuming that is the reason. Now with most color being water based, oil and water don’t mix so that is not suggested.

If I’m going from a level 10 to a 3, would i fill with a 6? Or would i still be ok to fill with an 8?
@CourtneyBStylisteducation
@CourtneyBStylisteducation 27 күн бұрын
Rule of thumb is fill 2 levels at a time with the indertone of that level. Because under tones need to be replaced at each level or you get an ashy result. This will determine the longevity of the color. Demi permanent only. Never permanent only. So technically you would fill first with an 8GC because the under tone of level 8 is yellow/orange. Then level 6 is then 4. But I wouldn’t go darker because since you’re going to have porosity in the hair from being a 10, the 3 will take dark so I personally wouldn’t use any darker than a 5 at your final level. However you could go straight from 8 - 5 and would fade faster in case you decide you don’t want to be a 3 anymore.

I just have a blonde ombre look going on, if I don't have a protien filler could I use red hair dye instead on the blonde parts then dye my hair dark all over?
@CourtneyBStylisteducation
@CourtneyBStylisteducation 5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean by protein filler but when going back to dark you have to fill the hair back in with the missing underlying pigments. Yellow, orange and/red depending on what your goal level and tone are. Red is the deepest of the tones so you wouldn’t want to use that straight unless your going to apply a level 5 or darker.

i was a natural blonde who recently lightened my hair with box dye and now 2 months after hate the way my hair looks with my out grown roots which are a much darker blonde(a very dirty blonde) . I want to go a light brunette at home but am not to sure if i want it to be permanent. Is there any suggestions you have me to do a more temporary color that will blend into my roots more and not damage my hair to much?
@CourtneyBStylisteducation
@CourtneyBStylisteducation 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Summer. Thank you for the question. In this situation it is definitely best to go to a professional. And here is why. You need to replace all the underlying pigment you removed when you lightened you’re hair. There is a system for this that is determined by the level and tone your hair is now and the level and tone you desire to be. If you don’t do it correctly you could end up with a very “muddy” tone. Your hair is porous now so nothing is “temporary “. This is something I would use a demi permanent for because Demi’s only deposit color. Permanent have the power to lift first then then deposit. You don’t need to do that. And every time you lift your hair you cause some damage. So mi recommendation is to look for a stylist by word of mouth, look at their Instagram or fb page to view their work and will give to a free consultation. 😊

How did you reverse back to blonde? I am a level 9 natural blonde also but lighten it. When I try to darken it, then it turns a grayish mud color. I don't want to put red in as I want to keep the level in the 9 zone or lighter. I'm trying to get mine back to the light natural or neutral blonde color without going too ash or red.

Of coarse. But you wouldn’t formulate the same as you would for porous pre lightened hair. You need to take in to consideration the texture and density. And you wouldn’t really need to fill at all if only going a couple levels darker. In her case it was 4 levels and wanted to ensure and even tone.
