Thank you! I know this is an old video but I so appreciate it! Especially because I splurged and bought Viridian, lol. I would have had no idea. I really appreciate you doing this as I see people talk about the difference between pans and tubes, but you're the first person I've seen show how to fill the pans.

Viridian is notorious of shrinking and cracking amongst most brands. For professional/artist watercolors one drop of glycerin mixed in before they dry is perfect, for student grade or even some artist grade colors that appear a li runner then the rest those are the ones you will need two drops of glycerin should be mixed in. Brands that use honey tend to not needed anything. A lot of artist grade tube paints you could roll with and just go straight for filling the pan as most brand use the same formula between tube n pan paints but w & n are one of the brands that use different formulas between the two types of paint

I’m new to watercolor painting. Is there a way you can label your paint pans so that you know what you’re using? I know I’ll get used to them, in time, but for now it would sure help.

This isn’t the most efficient way, but I print labels for my palette [its an open close type one] and put the color name on the lid. Inside or out does the job

I made a swatch card that fits in the third fold or cover. Shows the position the color with tonal value. Also a ink line showing transparency. Pretty simple. You can use a painting that you want to discard, just turn it over cut it to fit box, thin mark off pan squares. Sometime the color of paint doesn’t match what it looks like activated with water. So the card helps you make a decision as well.
