How to Film a Hiking Video With Just a Smartphone!

People often say to me that they want to start filming their hiking trips however they don't have a good enough camera to do so. What many don't realize is that a smartphone can be the perfect camera to film a hiking video!
In this video I am going to be showing you how to film a hiking video with just a smartphone. You don't need an expensive camera to film hiking videos you just need a smartphone and a cheap small tripod.
The tripod I got has a mount on it for a smartphone and I got it for less then 20 pounds on Amazon.

I love this video. I'm in the process of filming an outdoor episode myself. I love the takes we've done so far. I'm looking for other ideas too. We've done map, compass, binoculars, different takes of me walking, pretending to drink from a canteen, tho, you can't tell. And fishing. Walking up steps, different angles.

Enjoyed your video. Much needed encouragement. Here is another tip: Your cell phone is mounted "backwards" on the holder. 🙂 The holder obstructs the screen as it is shown in the video.

Great! But phone goes on backwards on the holder. The vertical bar is supposed to be on the camera side of phone, leaving the screen free from obstacles. Love to se more tips on how to plan the shoots.

I think most phones are water resistant so should be fine unless really crazy weather in which case I would say it would be better to not hike and wait for better weather

That's just how filming works in general. May look silly viewing this from the outside perspective, but the finished product gives the viewer a suspension of disbelief.
