Thank you, thank you, thank you. I was wondering why no one created an app that will help film CRT TVs. The problem was, I was looking for an app just for that one purpose. Already tested open camera and it works perfectly. Once again, thank you.

To be honest an app with preset modes for common CRT configurations would be kind of amazing though.

Curious if the Application "updated" and changed this out. Manual only offers exposure and no other options in Manual Focus, and the more settings for video offers set rates like 60, etc.
@DOSStorm Жыл бұрын
Odd. I just used it last night and it was working fine. Some phones don't fully support the camera2 API but that seems to be rare anymore. Is the manual ISO setting working? When you hit the "-/+" icon for exposure make sure you hit the small "m" to put it in manual mode.
@Vanessaira-Retro Жыл бұрын
@DOS Storm Yes I read the other post in the comments here and checked. Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Plus, it's on CameraAPI2, tapped the little M but only see ISO options. There is no top and bottom sliders. Only and plus and minus button for exposure.
@AlsGeekLab2 жыл бұрын
thanks for this great video. any chance you could explain where is/what the shutter icon looks like? I enabled 2.0 and restarted the app but I can't see any settings for shutter speed, just iso, white balance and so forth.
@DOSStorm2 жыл бұрын
You're using Open Camera app correct? Do you see the icon near the top with the exposure icon that looks like -/+? Hit that and you should see that it is set to "AUTO"....if you switch it to "M"(manual) the shutter speed control should appear right under the ISO speed like it does at 2:21.
@AlsGeekLab2 жыл бұрын

Yamera for iOS/iPhone seems to be a good free option for manually setting the shutter speed :) thanks for this video
@DOSStorm2 жыл бұрын
Nice! Hopefully that can help the iOS users out there.
@KD-cobain2 жыл бұрын
@@DOSStorm for sure - a few annoying things though: 1) setting the shutter speed manually is really difficult as you have to move a ridiculously sensitive scroll bqr (maybe there is an easier way but i haven't found it), 2) if you accidentally touch the screen it auto-focuses and resets every single custom manual setting to auto-adjust, and 3) free version only exports up to 1920x1080@30fps

One thing that is very annoying is the moiré pattern. And sometimes a new phone, with a better camera, generate more moiré pattern than before.
@DOSStorm Жыл бұрын
One thing you can do to fix that is defocus the camera slightly. Or in post you can make a mask and select the screen area of the CRT and apply a light guassian blur effect.

@DOSStorm Жыл бұрын
@@sideburn The closest I've found is the higher end Panasonic cameras like the GH5(which is what I'm using in my current videos). The "synchro scan" feature lets you set super precise electronic shutter speeds in 0.1 increments. Its amazing for shooting CRTs. Some other cameras might have a feature like this but its not really well documented.
