@@drewcostello I've thought about starting a channel just because this is what I want to see: complete scene by scene movie breakdowns. 5-10 minute videos like what you did but go through a whole movie scene by scene.

@@jaysonp9426 That sounds cool! One big problem I have with even my shorter scene version is that KZbin will block the footage even if there's no sound and I'm talking over it. Its such a pain!

@@jaysonp9426 Just cutting to another image every now and then is what worked for me. That's why I cut back to myself sometimes in the videos. Also, not sure if this is true but it seems like the newer the video - the more copyright protection it has. Maybe one day I'll figure out the algo if I do enough of these haha

Amazing video bro, your channel is going to blow up very soon because you deserve way more viewers. Great lighting on the main shot of you, great opinions and analysis. I would recommend a few things: if you try to record all of your audio from the same mic/ in the same location so you avoid the change in sound quality, and then I would slightly rehearse or re-read what you previously said and to avoid the slight stuttering, I know it shows the genuineness of what you're saying but it will make your videos appear more polished

For the ultimate example of shooting with an exciting style, look no further than Draft Day. On paper, it's just a bunch of talky negotiations over the phone. Sounds boring AF, but it's not! Not only a tour de force for it's ensemble cast, but a standout performance in a small role from Chadwick Bozeman before all his biopics!

'No writing can keep your interest that long.' New to your channel. Not sure if you're a director or a DP - I'm going to guess a director. For my money - I would keep the focus on the actors and the writing. One has to move the camera when the writing is not great and the acting is poor. Look at Mike Leighs films. He's not throwing the camera around like Scorsese because he knows how to work with actors. There's nobody better. Look at the famous scene in Secrets and Lies in the diner. One shot - 7 minutes long. Look at the Waterfront scene you posted- great writing - the coverage couldn't be simpler. That is if you want to move people. If you want a crane shot for a guy taking a piss - yeah - one can do that too - but that kind of filmmaking does all the work for the audience. You can sit back and eat ice cream and be entertained. I for one am not looking for that. Saying that - it takes ten years to learn how to write, ten years to learn acting or directing of actors - so there's that. Scorsese has video screens running all day at his office and home. yeah - he's seen every movie. But no one has ever cried at a Scorsese film. Anyway - my point is - if you nail the acting and writing you will have to move the camera less.
