Thanks for this one, I really appreciated the explanation and slowdown... Very helpful.

Mike Austin said the downswing was liken to a rocket ship taking off. Not an explosion from the top, but a constant increase of final momentum to the back of the ball. Not a tug from the top, or a church bell downward lunge from the top, but a constant swinging of the club head following the stronger lower part of the body through the ball.

The orange whip is really a great practice tool. I brought mine to the course today and made a couple of practice swings before every shot, and everything comes in place. I’ve got the same sensation when I swing a rope indoors in the wintertime

Rushing the downswing is INDEED an evil fault of many players (myself included). Orange whip and some other flexy devices are great, but a very easy, cheap and I think better alternative is a thin/light beach towel with a knot at one end … and inside the knot put 3-4 old golf balls for some weight. It works super good, and you can easily shorten or lengthen it. Guarantee you can’t rush your downswing with this.

I love my Orange Whip. Really like the count-balance feature, have you found counter balancing golf clubs useful?

This is one of my persistent swing killers. I tend to increase my swing tempo without realizing it. Time to get out the Orange Whip and do some waltz counts in the backyard.

I thought the max forces were applied at the top?

No. They start ramping up at the top. They peak around waist level.
