😂 i went into two colony's to mark the queens and I couldn't find them for love or money 😂 as soon as I pulled that damn pen out😂 single brood management with a queen excluder on both colony's and you'd think it would be simple but nope 😂 great video 👍👋

The queen has a way of disappearing when you need her, doesn't she? 😂

These vids are awesome! I share the hell outta them with friends. I thought the nurse bees clean the paint of the queen? How many bees are in a deep box and how many are in mediums (just estimates)? Thanks!🇺🇸🫡🐝

Thank you for your kind words and your questions! Worker bees can clean the paint off a queen, but usually just when the paint is still wet when she is introduced back into the hive. Over time the mark can fade and be wiped away, but if it's a good mark it should last for almost a year before visibility starts to diminish. To answer your next question, ~24,000 in a strong deep box and ~16,000 in a strong medium super. This works on the assumption that you can have ~1215 adult bees on one side of one deep frame and ~785 adult bees on one side of one medium frame. Remember, there are 20 sides of frames in a 10-frame box (each frame having two sides). Thus, I just multiplied 20 x 1215 = 24,300 and 20 x 785 = 15,700. You can see these estimates of bees/frame here: www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.3896/IBRA.1.52.1.03
