Hey everyone! Welcome to episode 3 of my travel nursing series. Today, we're discussing how to find affordable yet safe housing as a travel nurse. I hope this video is helpful to you. Be sure to leave a comment down below!
Travel Nursing Series:
How to Pack for a Travel Nurse Assignment: • MY ULTIMATE TRAVEL NUR...
Pros and Cons of Travel Nursing: • Pros & Cons of Travel ...
Items mentioned in the video:
Door alarm: amzn.to/48Iec7X
Door jam stopper: amzn.to/3U94UNT
Door stick: amzn.to/3UcysKv
Amazon Storefront(There is a travel nurse section also!): www.amazon.com/shop/dominique...
Other safety tips not mentioned:
1. Consider hotels off main highways; these are usually on main strips with several food options and gas stations, but most of all, they are in a populated area!
2. Do street views of the apartment/home/hotel look deserted? Are there lights in the parking lot?
3. When you arrive at your home/apartment/hotel, measure all windows and sliding doors and go to the local hardware store (Home Depot, Lowe’s, etc). And have them cut you a piece of wood or metal. Now, make sure it’s slightly smaller than what you measured. Place this in the window. This will ensure that the window or sliding door cannot be opened!
Other tips not mentioned:
1. Ask your agency if they have corporate codes for their nurses for hotels, rental cars, etc.
2. Join travel nurse Facebook groups: The Gypsy Nurse & Travel Nursing: Premium Job Board!
If you know any other travel nurse facebook groups, feel free to share them below 🩷

OMG thank you so much. I had pen and paper taking notes. I’m a newbie and I start my very first contract in 2 weeks. I already made the mistake of signing contract before finding housing. I have came across a couple of places available but it’s having to share with one other person and the other is by myself. I did subscribe! Thank you so much and I learned a lot! And ur beautiful love your makeup as well!!!❤

I loved the video 🥹 I’m thinking about pursuing a travel physical therapist career & your tips are very helpful even though your advice is curated for nursing I find it to still relate to the research I’ve already been doing.

I’m glad you find the videos helpful although you’re in a different field! 🩷 Yea, I’ve learned there are travelers in every profession; physical therapist, respiratory therapist, CNAs, etc! I love that!

I love that you have been to South Dakota. Do you get time to explore and document what the assignment locations offer? Thanks for all that you do. ❤️

Yes I do! On my off days I got to ride to different parts of South Dakota -wasn’t much out there lol, but I had the time. During the South Dakota assignment was also when I flew to Chicago for a few days and explored. Illinois was pretty close to South Dakota. However, since there wasn’t much to do, I picked up a lot of shifts lol

I’m want to rent my guest rooms to traveling nurses. Is this possible?

You mentioned staying with family. That would make you ineligible for the housing stipend, correct? If so, does the agency adjust your hourly rate?
@DominiqueDooley
@DominiqueDooley 3 ай бұрын
Staying with family does not make you ineligible for housing stipend. As long as you travel from your home to a different location you are considered a travel nurse. No matter your housing situation. No rates would be adjusted.

Do you think travel nursing is still lucrative. I feel like by the time I graduate it’s not as much pay. I need to cover for duplicate payments and what not.

In my personal opinion it is; however, it differs for everyone’s lifestyle. You just have to be picky about which contracts you choose & be willing to negotiate!
