Khawaja Faisal it really depends. if you're alright with playing tabs online and etc then theres no need too. but if you want to arrange songs and compose. learning all the notes are super useful

George Adams no duh. The capo raises the pitch, one half step per fret.

George Adams the notes are the same, but the key is different - depends on where you place the capo.

Jamie Kay Villegas Roa The notes are the same but they sound different. I've experienced this on wind instruments, such as the Bb trumpet. If I play an Eb on a Bb trumpet, the actual pitch is a Db. It's the same for guitar, if you play the second string open with a capo on the third fret, you'll be playing what you know as an A, but the actual pitch sounding is a C.
