Wow! Appreciated. I’m not necessarily looking for gold, I just love geology and want to go searching in the right spots.

Great instructional video, thank you for sharing. I tried researching Cloncurry and Croydon gold fields but the maps dont show any gold occurances despite its presence being well known and mined in these areas. Could I be using the website incorrectly? Also, have you ever explored the Cloncurry area? Thanks! Dan.
@GoldNuggetDetecting2 ай бұрын
Hi Daniel, thanks for your comments. It’s possible you haven’t added the right ‘layer’ or it’s in historical data layer. Definitely mines in both places. I haven’t explored either area but have done some research. I did enquire about detecting in Cloncurry but was informed it was pretty much private property and the gold was from deep leads. Lot of copper in Cloncurry region and gold is often located around copper deposits. Good luck 😀⛏️⛏️

How do you read the maps though in terms of the lay of the land, are you supposed to be looking for creek beds or something else?
@GoldNuggetDetecting2 жыл бұрын
Hi Reece, map reading is quite involved to explain here, but, I look for the geology…. the type of rock in the various areas known to hold gold, the legends on some of the maps have details of gold areas/mines that you can research. Topography maps show topography of the land and the higher & lower areas like gullies and creek beds. Hope this helps. 😀⛏⛏

I am enjoying this. But question. Why don't all maps show the gold legend?? Every map I did doesn't show same information
@GoldNuggetDetecting11 ай бұрын
I’m not sure Wade. Different State geologists, age of maps themselves and no room left in area to be placed on map sheet??👍

@@GoldNuggetDetecting do yourself have some queensland maps that show the reef details that you showed us on this. Was really helpful.. love your work.

It looks like the website is broken. When I click on "View/Download map image" it just redirects back to the same page.

Thanks for the heads up @johnmartin 4316 ✅. It appears that some info remains available on other state/terrritory websites - www.geoscience.gov.au/online-mapping-systems 😀⛏️⛏️ (I’m laid up in hospital with a back injury and unable to research further at this time 😞).
