Chicken of the Woods is my favourite fungi. I toss it in a little rice flour, then fry in coconut oil. Add some garlic powder, Chinese five spice, bit of sea salt and tamari tl taste... yum! My seven year old grandson absolutely loves it! Thank you...great video!

Could you do a video, that shows all the yellow/ orange fungi that looks very similar to chicken of the woods. Side by side, above and below comparison would be fantastic.

Now you're talking about something that I know quite a bit about I'm an amateur mycologist I have been growing mushrooms mostly polypores in my house for several years actually right now I'm not growing because I moved into a new place and I'm not set up for it but I plan on eventually getting back to it. Polypore mushrooms are one of the healthiest things that you can do for yourself I credit them for saving my life. Yes it's a very long story I won't go into the whole thing but there's a part of me that truly believes that eating turkey tail mushrooms another poly for I believe related closely to the chicken of the woods is such a benefit to your immune system that if you have cancer and are going through destructive cancer treatments and you take or eat an abundance of turkey tail mushrooms you will increase your odds of survival so dramatically I believe is to put yourself in a whole new category of likelihood of survival I truly believe this I have seen the data put out by Paul stamets a world-renowned mycologist if I get sick again from my condition if I backslide I will most certainly take turkey tail and pill form so I don't have to eat as many as I did the first go round because I really packed it away LOL I have to be honest I have never eaten chicken of the woods I have never grown it either I'm almost tempted to go look for some it's a surely a beautiful fungi

I like this video ,that mushroom looked so good . When should I start looking for this type of mushroom spring or mid summer or fall . Here in the US we start looking early spring another type here i have seen it but I didn't know what it was . Nice video very informative you identified and prepared it but most importantly you suggested to try a small bite and wait to see if anyone had any reactions from it . Thanks you for your time making this video.

I appreciated you were responsible in harvesting one piece. Its important people dont take every piece. My daft imagination when youre getting ready to cook the piece in view of the rest of the CotW, one piece is saying "why did he cut Charley off? " the other pieces say " dont worry, hes just cleaning him with that brush. He'll pop Charley back in a min..." .... Two mins later..... " Aaaagghh..... Chaaarleeyyyyyy!!"

Dunno if this is a dumb question but do you seed as you forage? And regarding mushrooms have you ever set spawn plugs? I see immigrants foragers where I am taking everything they find. No seeding, no leaving some for others or regrowth. They just take it all. (Not hating on immigrants, it just happens to be true it’s always them.)

If you have a vitamin d deficiency which in America is at epidemic rates so I imagine in the UK it's even worse because of the fact that there's even a less pure sunny days from what I've read mushrooms even poly for mushrooms absorb so much vitamin d and you in turn absorb it from the mushrooms you can replenish yourself on a diet that has a healthy amount of polypore mushrooms. They are so very very good for you! I completely turned my health situation around when I was growing and ingesting all manner of polypore mushrooms. I like all mushrooms but I specifically tend to favor oyster mushrooms and other tree growing mushrooms such as the polypore
@ClownWhisper2 жыл бұрын
One thing I forgot to mention regarding the vitamin d and mushroom absorption if you want to make certain that your mushrooms contain a lot of vitamin d you can actually set them out in the sun for several hours to absorb an additional amount of vitamin c if they are very young small mushrooms and you are afraid they might be low in vitamin d or if they are white skin mushroom that are grown in the dark such as snow cap or they call them white button mushrooms some people call them you can set them in the Sun and they will absorb vitamin d and you can obtain vitamin d that way very effective it seems to me and this is only anecdotal evidence I absorbed the vitamin d much better that way then even taken prescription vitamin d in very large doses. Just a thought

The chicken of the woods should be cooked first in a boiling water for at least 5 to 10 minutes to remove the oxalic acid, then you fry it. Because if you prepare it that way it can make some people sick, those who don't tolerate it, i mean. Nevertheless, great video.
