There's no harm in closing the pointer scan. You just need to open it up again. The next, for people who can't find values in the 2nd scan (or 1st for that matter) Your offset and level probably isn't high enough to access the static address that you're looking for. 2047 as offset and level 5 is too low to find most of the static addresses in modern games.

I was trying this in an RPG Maker VX game (have to use a custom value type) and I am not finding anything the second scan. Unsure why. Using 4095 and 7. It's odd because the first search only shows up like 3k results and 90% of them are the same address, so I assume always that is the address but when I restart game..nothing. Rescan a second one, comes up blank. Can't figure out what's up.

The addresses are usually the same or very similar. I'd recommend that you try with for example 10 levels and an offset of 2048 to speed up the search, save the file and repeat. It's important do search for the same value each time. When searching for for example health you can get different values where only one of them is the dominant. You need to find it by freezing the values and unfreezing a bit at the time. If the wrong value is picked, your pointer scan will turn up blank/invalid. If however you still do not find anything for an offline game, it might be the offset that is too low. Try with 4096, but the longer the offset, the longer your search per file will take

Does cheat engine work with emulators. So I use retro arch and wanted to do some stuff with it. I can find the addresses when the game is loaded but when I exit it’s gone so I try and find the offsets and the pointer scan shows no results every time.

Whenever I close the game or load from a privious point and reattach the game to cheat engine , it says scan error:thread 0:access violation at address 004A673F in module 'Cheat Engine.exe'.Write of address 00000000. Coz of this I can't scan the pointer more than a single time.

About teleport hack, I made pointers successfully but when I use hotkey to set value to the coordinates I want, it teleports me to other position, or doesn't even teleport me somewhere, also the pointer stop working after some time by the time i made it (I freeze the x y z pointers and won't freeze my position)

Good video, worked for me. For some reason I couldn't find the pointer for the address by filtering the pointerscan map while creating it, but filtering the map once it was created with the new addresses did the trick. Thanks!

Just reload saved game instead of fully restart game work too I guess. Save lot time & trouble. Also, in cheat engine version 5.5(old version), the pointer can be easily scanned from the address found. No need to restart. I'm currently relearning this again. 15 years ago I fully created battle realms trainer for myself. Then never touch cheat engine again until now. Has to restart from basic 😂(i completely forgot everything). Still, I'm sure old version of cheat engine is more convenient than newer 1. Bcoz at least I've tried both v5.5 & v5.8 in the past.

Pointers are basically locations in memory. So unless the NES doesnt have a memory module then the answer to ur question is no 😂

Yes it works multiple PCs. That’s what pointers do - they point to a static address (an address that never changes, regardless of the computer it’s on).

OK that works but it doesnt give me the pointer address or whatever... i can only use the pointer in cheat engine but how do i get the hex value that i can use in memory writing? for example in c++ you can hook into a process and edit the value of a particular address but in cheat engine i csnt get address, it onlt shows P->(dynamic address)

Nope, I guess you can only use these pointers in cheat engine.

Its likely that the value you intended to modify isn't stored on your pc but in a database of the game and the value you changed was simply one on a GUI/game menu ( so a bit like changing a value when you do 'inspect element' in chrome for example).

Anyone, correct me if I'm wrong, but... % aren't actually saved as "%" in memory. Usually %s in games are just a number and "%" is added on the display. So for example, if you have a spaceship and the GUI shows, that you've 35% of the shields left, it means, that it is saved as 35. So GUI has this template: [value of ship's shield] + "%". Sometimes it can be a ratio, so other values are stored in memory and before it is shown to the screen, computer calculates: value1/value2 * 100. ("%" is still added only on the display). So, in short, computers don't really understand %s, it has no meaning for them, so they just store the number before the %. And how to find it? Just look for a number without the "%". Try changing value type to "All". It takes longer, but finds all possible addresses. Sometimes %s are calculated like in the 2nd scenario (value1/value2) and changing just the displayed value won't help that much. What then? Well... you have to find at least value1. It all depends on app / game. I hope I've helped! I know it's been 4 months, but I can't just leave a comment without an answer, if I know it or part of it haha

Sphinx you may need to find a "more reliable" pointer. Some of them work some of them time and some don't. Also, if the other PC is 32-bit and you found the addresses on a 64-bit PC, that may play a role as well. Also game version matters so because some may have patches and some won't (assuming it's the same game just different versions)

EveryThing Rare you have to use a modified binary version of cheat engine. Basically edit the hex , name, process Id etc. Depends on what the anti cheat is looking for

The problem that I keep getting is after restarting the game, finding the value and then doing a rescan, pointers drops to zero. I'm no programmer, not yet, but I think it's a multi-address, multi-threaded instruction, and I can't seem to get the proper pointer at all.

I found the heath address(which keeps on changing every time when I launch the game), value is 85 when I am in wounded state in the game. full heath is 145. If i change the value to 85 to 145. and activate that value by clicking X in the box. Now resume the game still there is no change in the game. Game: Shanghai Dragon PC Game.

You can have two values: 1. Your actual health 2. (What you probably have) The visual representation of that value. Your health is displayed in game and what your address/offset holds is only the value of what is displayed. This does not effect your real health, if you heal yourself or take damage you will notice that. You will need to find the real address :)

Never mind, numbskull confirmed. I shouldnt use 'open' but 'load'... doy. So, I feel like a numbskull, but how do I save this address to a cheat table? If I rename it to HP (which I scanned for), then I save as .CT, if I then close the game and cheat engine and reopen both and open up the .CT file... no address is in the list. It saves nothing. yes, im trying to play around with forest village in example... getting the adresse for wood, stone, fish and so one. every ressource has 3 adresses. example : WOOD on START= 200 . that seems to be 1 adress shown in the "main windows" 1 adress shown in the storage barn/hall 1 adress shown in statistic windows and so on... now.. how to SCAN THIS ?
