Visit the cities: Arraial do Cabo, Cabo Frio and Búzios, these cities are just a few hours from Rio, there are the best beaches in the state of Rio de Janeiro. And if you went to explore other regions of Brazil, visit the state of Minas Gerais, there are historic cities like Ouro Preto.

You guys should visit Barra/Recreio and Praia da Reserva. You can get to jardim oceanico by metro but to move through barra you need either the BRT (chaotic in peak hours and bad maintained lately due to delayed paychecks but you shall have no major problems using it in barra) or uber but make sure you go at least once. It doesnt have that same rio vibe as zona sul and its bad you depend on a car but it feels like a whole different city its worth to check!! Downtown is a nice open mall in barra you can get by metro. I highly recommend that u guys spend at least 1~2 days in Petrópolis. It's a city about 1 hour by bus from Rio (buses leave from the first floor of Rodoviária Novo Rio - bus company Unica-Facil). Petrópolis is the only Brazilian city in the 2020 Traveler's Choice (it is listed in the "Promising Destinations" category). It's also known as the "Imperial City" because it's the city where the Imperial Family used to live during the summer (to avoid the heat of Rio de Janeiro). The main sights are: Quitandinha Palace, Rio Negro Palace, Imperial Museum, Petropolis Wax Museum, Crystal Palace, House of Santos Dumont, Cathedral of Saint Peter of Alcantara, Liberty Square, Bohemia Beer Factor (guided tour), the Historic Center (Koeller St. and Ipiranga St.) and the Itaipava district. If you want to buy clothes, Teresa Street is an open mall with the best prices in the state of Rio de Janeiro. And for the night, a good option in the center of Petrópolis is the Olegário bar, on 13th May St (Rua Treze de Maio). Last tips: (1) when arriving at the Petrópolis bus station, u can take a bus to the center (bus number 100) or call an Uber; (2) choose a lodging option close to the Historic Center (Rua do Imperador is the main one), so you can do everything on foot (except Quitandinha Palace and Itaipava district). Trilha dos Dois irmãos - 50 min thrill to the top of one of those 2 mountains you see from Ipanema Beach (spectacular view) Trilha da Pedra da Gavea: a bit more hardcore thrill but worth it! In terms of beaches, you could go to the Barra da Tijuca beach, you can reach there by metro (last station from the yellow line). This is more like a new area in Rio, new buildings and more modern city Jardim Botanico (Bothanical Garden) - Its close to the Parque Lage that you have already visited FOOD: you need to visit an all you can eat Brazilian BBQ, come on... this is TIP TOP! Recommend either Palace Churrascaria or Fogo de Chão.

Bom dia! Antes de sair do Rio de Janeiro, vocês precisam conhecer Buzios e Lumiar e São Pedro Serra. Esses dois lugares ficam aqui no Estado do Rio de Janeiro a mais ou menos 2 horas de ônibus ou carro. Não deixem de conhecer. São Pedro da serra é Lumiar, ficam no município de Nova Friburgo, é uma região rica culturalmente, colonizado por suíços e alemães é conhecida como a Suíça brasileira. É linda, montanhosa e com lindas trilhas, florestas e cachoeiras... Espetacular. E Búzios é outro município, que é um dos balneários mais lindos do Brasil é do mundo. Lá que fica a famosa orla Bardot. Aconselho a vocês visitarem.

Yes I visited Rio de Janeiro in December 2019. I had 30 days in Rio de Janeiro. I stayed in a nice hotel in downtown Rio. I went to sugar loft mountain and Chris the Redeemer. If you have the time visit the downtown area it has a lot to offer and you will get an idea how the average Brazilian works and lives it was an awesome 👌.

You guys should look up South Brazil. There are many amazing cities down there that are within a relatively close range from each other. (Florianópolis and Gramado are cool options!)... Northeast is also nice if you'd like a more 'tropicalish' trip, there are really nice experiences there like beach buggy riding.

If you guys feel a bit more sporty and wanna go to a less cliche spot of rio, you could do the Pedra do Telégrafo trail, in Barra de Guaratiba. It's in the west side of the city and you can find some of the very best sea food restaurants in the whole city. My personal favourite is Restaurante Tropicana. The tracking it self is not that demanding or long with its 2 km of extension and also it's quite well signalized. For the best views possible (and trust me, they're beatiful) doing it before 2 pm would be ideal. Just check out wheter it rained the day before, in this case beware it will be a tad muddy. You guys can google the cool pics make ppl take there and I hope you have an incredible time here in Rio :)

You should visit the Jardim Botânico (Botanical Garden), Floresta da Tijuca, Confeitaria Colombo and Prainha (a beach between Recreio and Grumari beach). If you can get to know Arraial do Cabo (it is 2:30 hours of travel from Rio). There are three beaches that I recommend there: Prainhas do Pontal, Prainha and Praia do Forno.

Hey guys.. Next to your airbnb u can go to FORTE DE COPACABANA in one side. And the next side of the beach u have FORTE DUQUE DE CAXIAS. in leme beach. U have also the botanic garden.. And almost in front of the jockey club

@@lindseyfw2903 if you go to Barra and Recreio, you could take the subway from Copacabana where you are to Jardim Oceânico Station, in Barra, and from there you could take an Uber. It would save you a lot of money. Then, in Barra there is a nice beach, a huge shopping mall (Barra Shopping), Recreio has also a huge beach and it has a rock called Pontal (similar to Arpoador in Ipanema) where there is a nice view. Prainha is after Recreio, a hidden gem in Rio, a beach in the middle of mountains, with less people.

You have to eat Feijoada at "Bar do Mineiro" on Saturdays and after drink a beer at Bar do Gomes in Santa Teresa. You can also visit Parque das Ruinas and Janela do Ceu there.
