you are a chem angel! my teacher skims through because he believes the class are chem majors I need the class to transfer and I've been lost Im barely hanging on with a C! why didn't I find you earlier! Thank you! Its a 3 hour class and I was lost. You explain it really well your voice is calming and encouraging. I actually like that you say "go to the other video" some of the other videos take too long. This was great! thanks again! i definitely subscribed I feel my IQ jumped a few pts hehe

When my teacher isn't clear, this is where I turn to. Hopefully I'll be able to work the math tomorrow for a quiz (that we were hardly taught), though I fear the math will be longer since it's a four step process going from the mass of one reactant to the mass of another. Thank you for explaining things well, however. c:

i have a chem question,hoping u could answer it? 1) mercury and bromide will react with each other to produce mercury(II)bromide hg(l)+br2(l)------hgbr2(s). what mass of hgbr2 is produced from the reaction of 10.0g hg and 10.0g br2? what mass of the reagent is left unreacted? What mass of hgbr2 is produced from the reaction of 5.00ml of mercury (density+13.5g/mL)and 5.00ml of bromine (density=3.12g/mL)

Since the problem gives you moles to moles and a balanced equation you don't need grams. Use the mole ratio 1 mol C3H4 to 3 mol CO2 to convert. So, z mol C3H4 x 3 mol CO2/1 mol C3H4 = 3z mol CO2

Why do average atomic Masses of elements on the periodic table written With no units?
@mrcausey
@mrcausey 6 жыл бұрын
Great question. Atomic masses were originally determined through a mathematical relationship based on the known ratio between carbon and hydrogen. In the mid-1800s scientists couldn't directly mass atoms but realized the need for an atomic mass unit. So, using Avogadro's gas law they were able to find a ratio between carbon and hydrogen (1:12). This lead to the definition of an amu as the mass of 1/12 of a carbon atom. Because a ratio was used the units can either be atomic mas units or grams (molar mass). H = 1.01 atomic mass units or H = 1.01 grams

Not really! There are no short cuts to learning chemistry correctly. The process is use molar mass to change grams to moles or moles to grams; use mole ratio to change moles of A to moles of B or moles B to moles A; use Avogadro's number to change moles to particles or particles to moles.

i dont get it , for mole in grams . first you put the mole divide by 1 then in B you put 1 divide by the mole. why?
@mrcausey
@mrcausey 10 жыл бұрын
When changing moles to grams you use the molar mass so the moles cancel out and in grams to moles you have to flip it so grams cancel out. They are two different situations using the molar mass. You might want to check out the "How to Use Moles" video in the description. There other videos listed that might help also.
