I dealt with lust and porn for over 40 years. One thing to start with is accountability. If you have strong Christians in your circle start talking with them and sharing your secrets. Then find an accountability group at church. This resource Pure Desire really helped me. I went through a year long class with full disclosure accountability week after week with a group of men who I built trust with and who I called each week to check in with. We need each other to help in this battle. What's done in isolation needs healing in community

Exactly. praying it's important, but you have to take practical steps: avoid temptation. Cut off anything that's related to your sin. Look for a mentor or accountability partner. And the most important: fill your mind with the word. Read the bible throughout the day. Bad thoughts and the word of God cannot coexist in the same space. That's what helped me.

For about a month, I’ve been under a constant spiritual attack in which I keep on having the intrusive thought that God wants me to stress, and that my suffering will “pay off” in the future. It’s caused so much pain physically, mentally, and emotionally. I’ve been praying to God every day and every night, repenting for every sin that I’ve ever done, and begging Him to please lift the suffering I am burdened with. I just want to be a peace again. Thanks for the vid very inspirational being able to articulate so fluently and understandable! I know this is off topic but how do you navigate love? What is doing all things out of love? Out of faith, love and hope, love is the most important. Idk but I just feel like that as Christians we place a lot onto faith, onto calling, onto working through faith and building up faith with God. But then again the Bible says we could do all these works in Christ and God might not actually know us (Idk if this means God might not know us because of our faith, but idk Im confused on how people do works of faith without faith/works of love without love and I wanna know if I do it). As Paul says, he could literally die for someone but if he has no love it doesn't mean a thing. Of course, God is love and love comes from God and we can love because God loved us first. But overall something Im just confused about.

there’s a lot to unpack here, i would like to offer some wisdom from where i myself have been. first, doing all things out of love ISNT being a doormat, doing all things out of love ISNT ‘yes’ to everything. doing all things out of love IS saying ‘yes’ to God and being humble submitting to his word and authority even when at times we may not like it. humility is not simply knowing your place, humility is knowing what’s rightfully yours and still choosing to submit those privileges to serve others.

second, salvation is by GRACE ALONE. grace is the UNDESERVED gift of God. so we CANNOT work for salvation it was and is a gift from God (eph.2:8) AND i believe you’re mentioning james. james isn’t saying we need to WORK to make ourselves right with God, he is saying though our faith in christ and salvation SHOULD move us to work out love no matter where we are. like that verse that says “they love much because they are forgiven much” and also (1 Jn. 4:10) we live from a place of love bc HE (GOD) first loved us.

and no God is not saying he won’t KNOW us because of our faith, i think you’re mentioning (correct me if i’m wrong) the verse that says “Lord, Lord…” the context is Jesus speaking about those who will face God one day and their justification of why they should enter heaven is because of WHAT they did and not their relationship with him. when we repent and KNOW jesus and have a relationship with him we are saved and that is the gift of God nothing we could earn or work for, AND the same way if you’re in a relationship that you love and it’s healthy NATURALLY it would change how you live and function, I.E, “yeah i go to the gym w my significant other because…” things begin to change as you continue to grow in Knowing the person you love and are in relationship with

finally, God doesn’t need anything or anyone. he exists because he is God. he is the sufficient one and he does not need anyone for anything YET he still CHOOSES to partner with man in the work of his kingdom we see this through the whole bible, God and Moses, God and David, God and the prophets, Jesus(God) and the disciples, Believers and the Holy Spirit. ETC. as we continue to purse the Lord and FAITHFULLY love him our heart changes bc we aren’t LOOKING at the world our eyes are locked on HIM who is unlike the world because he is HOLY, His HOLINESS changes our hearts because he is COMPLETELY LOVE, COMPLETELY JUST on and on. so as we live and love him the way we live changes too and that’s because we’re WALKING w him as the disciples did, i reference John 1:38-41, the disciples weren’t asking him where he stayed because they wanted to see his crib. they asked so they could see the WAY he lived.
