Most ores have specific stone types that they spawn in. For example, underground deposits of cassiterite *cannot* appear in sedimentary rock (which is often on the top). If you refer to the wiki from time to time and check if the stone you're looking at is even worth checking for ore, you can vastly improve your prospecting results. There are also a few depth-related parameters which you can consult along with the aforementioned information to make your search for ore even more systematic and successful.

I found a high concentration of cassisterite at 0.19%. I mined downwards until I hit the mantel and nothing. Am I unlucky or just missing something? I'm brand new
