I have taken a break from painting, but I keep a journal that is my personal calendar, diary and drawing pad. I can just experiment as I like, all pages are low investment projects though I usually prefer working on large oil pieces. My goal is illustrating my own childrens books, but I don't want to force it. I have other things I need to focus on first, and I need to be able to find balance between my work, rest and creative time.

Thats sounds amazing. Really good to keep the low investment mindset. I'm getting into that more and more.

Great video, wonderful presentation style. Just my opinion about one of your points- copying- I found it a VERY useful exercise. Not to claim it as my own work, but as a sketchbook exercise. I've grown more through trying to work out how people who inspire me have created work. anyway, great work.

I totally agree with you! It's a great way to closely figure out how other people make. Thank you!

Hi Mags, nice to see another video from you. Your artistic insights are always interesting to hear. Reinventing yourself is something the greatest artists always do. Besides just splashing paint LOL, which by the way is always a pleasure to do.
