Your comment about how it's not wasteful to make changes, but it is to be expected as we change and grow, has freed me to paint over the yellow Tuscan textured walls that I inherited from the previous owner. I've been fighting with them for 8 years and I'm now moving in a casual coastal direction which suits my family's lifestyle. Thank you!

Fortunately, I allow my heart to lead me in decorating our home. I love so many elements of the different decorating approaches out there. Honestly, I don't know that I saw a category covered in this video that fits my style. I can tell you what folks say about my decorating style. Some say its Victorian, English Cottage, Vintage, Cottage, & Garden style when they see my interiors. Florals, whether flower arrangements or on fabrics, play a strong role in my home which I view as romantic. I employ a purple, black, & off white color scheme in our living room (& recently edited the pink out of the room). Enjoyed the information you shared in this video!s'

Cottage core/ffarmhouse blend. I like the romantic vibe of the cottage core especially the color splashes. I like the clean/whiteness of the farmhouse with wood accents.
@nmbr6kid2 жыл бұрын
Cottage core has a big focus on floral beauty and coziness. It’s layers and layers of pattern and fabric. Earthy florals are the overall flavor. It’s the enjoyment of color and texture accompanied by the necessary elements to simple enjoyments of life. I don’t see it as utilitarian at al. Just my opinion.

I would have call my style, before living in our current home, Minimalist. Now that we live in an old Amish farmhouse, I think that it is more along the lines of 3 styles. Minimalist, Organic Modern and a splash of Farmhouse. That actually sounds more impressive than it is. My style doesn’t have a solid place in the budget.

@@GraceInMySpace Yes, we did need to update it. For 20 years the house had been used by two Amish families but previously it was owned by regulars, like us. It was vacant for quite a while over the years, so you can imagine how much work it actually needed. ❤

Thanks for including pictures with each style! I feel all over the place right now (only partially because we're a young couple with mostly eclectic hand-me-down furniture). I want to remodel our bathroom and am really struggling to decide which direction to take it. We live on a "farm" in a traditional home. I don't see this as our forever place. I’ve been cottage/cottage core since LONG before it was a “thing” and struggled to describe my style to others back in the late 1970’s and early 80’s.
