Thank you! I remember being mesmerized by this song the first time I heard it on the Anthology of American Folk Music and I still am to this day. You did a great job if breaking it down. Your Aint No Tellin lesson is also fantastic. Keep em coming!

Nice stuff Peter. Its a tricky tune to get the syconpation on. But once you have it, its a joy to play and just somehow runs under your fingers like water.

Hey there, I've got questions about the key of this song. Everything you said about the tuning sounds right to my ear, but I feel like I get closer to the tuning of the original when I also capo up on the 4th fret. I assume you have it capo-less because you have a deeper voice than Hurt. Edit: I'm listening to the 1928 version

Use an acoustic guitar, lose the thumbpick and it might sound a bit like Mississippi John Hurt.
