Hello! Beautiful prayer rope. How many arm lengths of cord did you use for this?? Thanks for the tutorial!
@orthodoxprayerropes61344 жыл бұрын
About 5-6 arm lengths

I measured out six yards of 2mm rattail and it was only just long enough for 40 knots. How did you manage 50 knots with only six arm lengths? I’m just starting out on this so possibly I’ve missed something important.
@jedi0082 жыл бұрын
I use #95 paracord (from Paracord Planet) and to do 40 knots is about 8 yards, so for 50 use 10 yards. Also if you find yourself a bit short, you can temporary lengthen the cords by tying a string or thread to each one and then cut to length after. These tutorials are the best and I could not have done one with out watching these first!!! Thank you. Prayer Rope Lady!!!

Thanks a lot. You .might find that a Saddler's Needle works better than a thumb tack as a fid; handles easier, doesn't fray the cord or draw blood when you stick yourself.

Thanks for the tip! I actually sand down the sharp tip so it’s very dull. I have tried large blunt needles but I find them hard to hold.

@@orthodoxprayerropes6134Ive seen people use really good tweezers and it works well and doesnt damage threads at all like needles.

How do you get your knots so nice and round for the loop of the prayer rope? Mine always end up wonky and not round
@orthodoxprayerropes61344 жыл бұрын
If the cord you are using isn't smooth and causes friction as it rubs on itself that could be a cause. The trick to even knots is using a perfect amount of pressure when pulling the loops through--not too tight or too loose. You might be tying them too tight, keep the knot held tightly when you are pulling it up next to the previous knot, but when you're pulling the loops through the knot you can keep things looser and make sure you don't pull too hard or too loosely at any one step.

Hello, have you ever considered using four strand diamond knot, or four strand crown and diamond knots to construct the crosses? I find that I use them quite often in my own prayer ropes, they please my eye. They also look vaguely similar to the rest of the knots. Have a nice day. Respectfully, Seth.
@orthodoxprayerropes61344 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment! I do sometimes on other style crosses, but box knot style is how my dad taught me to finish the prayer rope, so that's why I like to do it :)
