The clear lake bass masters as awesome Steve Kennedy was using an 8 inch bait and he had to switch to a 10 inch bait to get the bigger fish

Mike, I really enjoyed this video. I don't know if you have ever fished Raystown Lake in Pennsylvania but it's a deep clear impoundment and a glide bait is fun times there. Not many bites but the chance for a good one is possible. Take care and again great video.

When i was little, my cousin had a mid sized bluegill on, i saw a bass swim up and eat a mid sized rock bass head first. We lost our minds, then it ate his bluegill head first, swam under the dock and broke him off. Thanks for the info, Ive had really good luck doing that with jerkbaits, slow wind a few turns then twitch/pause. I think i twitch swimbaits too much cause i like how it looks :p

Thanks Ike! Buying these super nice glides is pricey, but it’s not worth it unless we can catch them. I think I’ve been going toooo fast! I do the pause but I’m adding a little flick or to as I start to pause. Hoping to catch my PB on one this year!!

I tried that reel and it was not good! Sent it right back and got the Tranx like I should have to begin with! I also went with an Irod Bailey Swim Rod. 25 lb Mono and a whole box of Glides, Swimmers and Huds!

Hey Ike , you can also use 1/4-1/2 turns of the reel to make the interruptions during the retrieve or impart 2-3 quick turns of the reel followed by a pause ,,

Great video! I’m new to glide bait fishing and to filming for that matter but that’s a different topic. I’ve been using cheaper glides like the 6thsense and the thunder hawk lures glide and I’ve had success with bass and pike! The disrupting the strait retrieve is a good point. The thunk hawk will turn all the way around in a circle depending on how fast your retiring it when you pause it. Also because of this video I’m going to try them on fluro... I’ve been using braid because I don’t want to loose them. Lol

As someone who fishes only braid to leader, let me tell you, braid can be the very reason you DO lose the bait. When your bait is 3 or 4oz and your line stops mid-cast, the significant lack of stretch can have that bait launch across the lake. I had it happen more times than I'd like to admit. I'd suggest tying a heavy leader for shock absorption if you continue using braid. Just my 2c.

much respect to those who fish big swimbaits but for me and my smaller lake i just can't bring myself to use them and need a specific rod and line for it i catch nice heavy fish with my big worms and creature baits buzzbaits and soft paddle tail swimbaits

Run an S Waver on a heavy rod. If it has braid them run a long leader.

Why on earth are you recommending a fast action rod with "a little tip"?? That is just wrong and surely you know this. How to lose fish on big baits featuring Michael Iaconelli lol. Abu Garcia may not make a decent swimbait rod but plenty of other manufacturers do. Anyone actually getting into this, Dobyns Fury 795/806 are both great beginner swimbait rods for hard swimbaits with trebles. They are extremely parabolic for being big swimbait rods.
