Burbot is basically fresh water Cod. It should be commercialized! I've fished many waters heavy in Burbot but am always targeting lake trout. Its interesting to hear this fisherman describe what he looks for in good 'Burbot water' as what he describes is not a water column I'd typically target

Keep up the good work! Small mouth fisherman appreciate all that hard work.

I’m on the Utah side and coming to participate in the burbot bash, can you tell me if there’s equal population on the Utah side or should I head up to Wy?

There are more burbot on the Wyoming side. Plus more ice. Try fishing near the Confluence.

Crayfish? Is that anything like a crawdad, or closer to a mud-bug?

Same thing. Mudbugs will always be how I refer to em.

Questions about burbot fishing: 1- Are burbot found mostly and the upper part of the lake? 2- Are burbot found in the lower part of the lake, in the vicinity of the Dam? 3- Is the presence of ice important? 4- Can you fish for burbot from a boat?
@oskarwiik98324 жыл бұрын
3 and 4 you can fish for burbot in the summer using a boat but most people fish for them during the winter
@Penn704z4 жыл бұрын
1- There are burbot everywhere but higher concentrations in the upper part of the lake. 2- Burbot are found in the lower part of the lake, near the dam. Some burbot have made it through the dam into the Green. I have caught them as far south as Linwood Bay, but I haven't actively looked for any south of there. 3- Burbot are most active during the winter because that is their spawning season. Ice makes it easier to get to them and stay in one place. But, they can be caught from boats all year long. Evening through dawn is a better time to fish for them. 4- Yes, jig for them at night.
