That’s a good spot… LB yeah? And fishing very low tide allows one to throw past the sand bar where the fish are at. I miss those days… gotta get my rod and reel out soon and let the kids reel them in. 🎉

what a great video! i live in ocean park and would love to fish with you,never fished low tide and have been catching very small surfperch,only one big one,but then again haven't surf fished in 40 years. retired vet that is having so much fun at this beautiful spot

Thank you for watching! Yes that would be fun to fish together! The big perch they usually tend to be farther out so I’m usually from the waist high lol. I usually cast out and run back to shore so I don’t get sucked in by those sneaker waves 🌊

A that fishing rod isn't the right one for that reel .the rod you have is for a bait cast reel .wasn't sure if you new that .but it works for both .

I live a block away from the approach in Ocean Park just past Long Beach.. I have never caught anything in saltwater. But you're making surf perching look so simple and fun! I don't know if my pole is right for something like that thought. I think you're inspiring me to try at least, lol!

The surfs are horrible this time of the year. Been out there a few times now and the tide comes up to your ankle up to your vehicle. This makes it extremely hard to cast far out to where the fish will be… guess I’ll have to wait until summer to go back out

Hello Samuel thank you for checking out my channel! Those spring like things are useless I don’t use them anymore and if you watch my recent videos I tie them a new way lol. I’m usually always trying different methods of tying and seeing which ones works best. Yes a 7.5 foot rod will work as long as you have waders to get into the water and cast it far out. My rod is a 10.5 foot so it helps me cast farther out since I use a spinning reel. Good luck and fish on!
