Hi as a novice DIYer with plumbing I have used a lot of your videos, this one was so helpful to explain how to fit (in a simple way) the reducer. I don't normally comment on KZbin, but just wanted to take the time to say thank you so much for this help and information and there are lots of people out there like me who need/want help. Thank you

@@dereton33 Hi, could you elaborate on your comment please . I've got 10mm microbore throughout my house for the central heating system, the system appears to be working fine ( heats up quickly) and I found 10mm quite flexible ,easy to bend with a bending spring. The problem lies with needing to reduce the fitting down to 10mm ? Thanks for your video. James

I find the junior hacksaw method of removing an olive - or even full size hacksaw method - _very_ easy. As you say, you don't try to cut all the way through, and you must take care not to nick the copper pipe. The goal is to cut enough of a slot in the olive that you can get a flat bladed screwdriver in there and turn it. The olive is very soft and breaks easily at the cut line, and is then easily removed. I've done it lots of times and never damaged the pipe. I wouldn't think of wasting money on an olive puller.

That answers my previous question about Compression Reducing Set - 15mm x 8mm. I was going to use the size 15 olive as well but, you threw that away and didn't replace it with a new one so maybe no need for it. Does it only need the small olive size 10mm? My kit of course is 8mm reducer. Therefore, maybe the same principle. You have a nice helper good camera work too. Have subscribed to you. I'll share the video on my FB Thumbs up!

I purchased a reducer that is one piece only (had me scrathing my head) - there is the piece to fit in the pipe and on the other end the piece that fits over the pipe... but as it comes as one piece, no place for an olive?

I'm having issues with some microbore reducers at the moment. Do you have to use that olive with it? Because I bought some with no olive, just the reducers, but it looks like both those parts you've got there are in one. Can't seem to get them to seal though. I've had conflicting advice too, someone said tighten them up just a bit, and then IF they're leaking tighten them a bit more (Seems backwards?). Someone else said tighten them up until you feel them crack and keep going until it's tight. That means the bottom half of the fitting is then clamping down onto the pipe...like an olive. But neither seem to be working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, would this work in a cloakroom where the pipes coming from the wall are 10mm and I want to install new taps where the connectors are 15mm? Thanks.

Yes you can convert the pipes to 15 mm at any time using these reducers in couplings, valves, ect.

You will have to knock some of the stud wall out until you reach a straight piece of pipe.

No only the 15 to 10 mm. You may have to visit a plumbing store for those, but do try Amazon or Screwfix.

Ha ha that made me laugh. You don`t need those stupid tools, which I do have by the way, perhaps I should send you a copy of my city and guilds plumbing certificate, dated 1971 and only obtainable after 5 years apprentiship. Do get some pratts on here.
