Great video. Main point: as long as you have no interference at bottom out (tire to frame/controller), (seal to crown), (tire to crown/fender) you should be good to go, not all years and models have the same axle to crown specifications so always check by bottoming out fork and verifying clearance before trying to run it. I ran a flat crown on my 2016 RC2 40 (27.5) with 21" wheel and 80/100-21 starcross tire no problem for quite a while before upgrading. A couple things to note though. 1. greater distance between the crowns is actually structurally stronger. This is why all manufacturers specify a minimum distance between the crowns required. 2. Running the legs higher in the bottom crown may work but will affect axle to crown height. So front of bike may be lower than desired depending on your exact set up and will increase head tube angle.

2:21 you absolutely need to remove the big black spacer, it dammages the frame badly, even if you keep stock fork remove it folks

Good timing brother! The Ron is going to have a great Christmas. Bombers, 72v, 90/100-18 tire and rim. Oh yeah.

The Bombers go in today. Installing the star nut with a 8" length of 6mm allthread, some 6mmx1.0 nuts and washers. Install contraption and pull star nut down.

I put mine on with no additional parts. I did on the other hand repack the bearings with some better grease. But that's it.

Love this video!!! Thank you! I bought the risse fox 40 clamp type 2 minutes before finding this video, so I guess I'll just use it. But, I'll pass this trick onto others along the way:) Sub'd!

@@megawattz5511 the finish on my risse drop crown was absolutely garbage, I’d stick with the fox drop crown.

The tab at the bottom of the frame head tube must be chopped off for Marzocchi 58 forks and maybe some other aftermarket forks. It is for some countries/markets where they have a steering lock. That tab is for locking the steering. It is unused - not needed in most markets, so just use a hacksaw to cut most of the tab off then file it smooth and spray black.

Hi, thanks great vid! No issue with the standard Sur Ron front wheel hub? 100/110? I’m getting mixed feedback, that it won’t fit straight into this 58?? Hard getting info way down here in New Zealand! Thanks heaps.
@megawattz55112 жыл бұрын
A stock surron wheel fits straight into a 58, they’re both standard 20x110. Other dh forks are 20x110 ‘boost’ spacing and you’d need a 3mm rotor spacer. Easy.
