Thank you. I have a Brenderup horse trailer with AL-KO brakes, and I live in the U.S. I need all the info I can get, and your videos are fantastic.

Just swapped the pair on my trailer, just the info needed to do it easily apart from having to snip one of the old cables as the nuts were so rusted.

Unfortuniatly when cables have got too bad there is no easy way of replacing a cable without cutting. We always use a grinder to cut cables. When the nuts are rusted you often need to cut with a grinder where they mount to the body. also it can be easier to cut the inner cable on the front near the compensator allowing a deep 6 point socket and a breaker bar to get to the nut holding the cable to the chassis. If they are stiff on the cover plates lubricate with penetration oil and cut the outer cable just behind the metal cup just at the start of the flexible cable this will release the cable if seized. Get a set of grips and hold the smaller diameter on the cup rotate the cup spinning it on the cover plates until it begins to move when it comes free you can then pull it off. leaving a small part of the inner cable connected to the brake expander. Sometimes the cup is so stuck to the cover plates that the cover plates fail when freeing them off. you would then need to replace the cover plates 1 needs welding to the back plate. Hope this helps

Thanks for the video as I am just in the process of overhauling my brakes. However I removed the ALKO handbrake spring cylinder to change the brake rods, but now I am unsure how it is locked in place and is there any gap between the nyloc nut and the cylinder. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks
