I really enjoyed this episode as I’ve been looking for a solution to my slow windows for a long time now.I think the combination of cleaning out and regressing the assembly and then correcting the kink in the guide rails is the way to go.Great work ,great episode thank you.

Thanks Max, you are welcome! I want to make videos owners of these cars find interesting or helpful - your comments are very much appreciated. I hope it goes well when you work on yours.

I just installed the same window strip on my 944 and noticed the exact same behavior as the glass slides down the track. So, this is probably a common flaw and you did a good job with your repair. I left mine alone since it was good enough for me and I wasn't sure that I wouldn't damage the track by bending.

Thanks Hampton Laboratory! That’s interesting yours was the same way. I assumed other people must have the same problem, but It’s nice to hear from someone first hand!

Good stuff. Working on mine now. Had to replace a frozen regulator, so I bought a used one on ebay. Then I managed to clean up and get the old one working again. Go figure..lol!

Thanks Lizard944! That’s funny. Oh well, at least you have a spare if need it.

Very helpful. Thank you for sharing good work at this detail level. I am restoring a 944 and reassembling the freshly painted chassis. Please verify: Assembly sequence should be window rubber moldings except inner door panel, cleaned window glass slid up and taped in place, clean and lube the drive linkage, including short slider installed in correct direction, then lock/latch linkage and harness?

…and do you recommend installing the outer flat black aluminum trim after window glass install or does it not matter?
@rybreadification3 ай бұрын
Thanks, I appreciate it. I Hope your assembly goes well. After the window moldings, then you want to install the door handle with the linkage and the outside latch before the window glass. Bolt on the latch with the bolts but leave it loose for adjustment later, just make sure the linkage is connected to the handle, then install the channel that the glass runs in, the rubber felts inside the doors, then the glass, tape it up to hold it in place, then the regulator and slides, then adjust your window so it works right, then adjust the latch to make the door close right, then put the panel on last. I'm pretty sure that's the right sequence, it's been a while since I worked on it, but I'm pretty sure you need to install the door handle linkage first because it's impossible to get at after putting in the glass.

Technically I don't think it matters with the flat black trim piece. I'm going to be replacing the top window rubber molding on my car later because I realized I could do it later with the window in the door, but since you've got it apart, I don't think there's any reason to not do it first, I believe either way works.

Do you have a video showing aligning the window to the contact points with the rollers and window channels? Thanks

Sorry I skipped the 1st part of the video showing the install process, great video thanks!!

No, problem. I hope that explains it well enough. Thanks for the comment!

at 4:39 Illuminati or west side warlords? Just joking. Did you spread open the track wider or bend the whole track?
@rybreadification Жыл бұрын
Ha! That’s funny…neither! I just spread the track open a little wider in the area it was “binding”.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to take the cable off the window motor. Do I simply just tug on it? Or is there some other technique to it?
@rybreadification5 ай бұрын
Well, it's been a while, but yeah, you just pull on it. I don't remember, you may have to pinch it - there might be like plastic tabs that you have to squeeze, but I don't think so, I think you just have to pull on it, if I remember right. I remember thinking the same thing, and then I think I figured out you just have to pull on it. Maybe try sort of shaking or rocking it a little as you pull. And if you need to, use a pliers, but be careful not to crush or crack the plastic plug. Edit - pull on the plastic plug, not the wires. Just in case I thought I'd throw that in there.

Ha, that's funny! Yeah, there's a lot of those. I put a black cat sticker on the back of the car just for fun until it gets a new paint job. Thanks for the comment!
