I bought a metallic epoxy counter top kit from a company. It was not cheap, but all their videos and marketing assured me it was easy and anyone could do it. Well, it wasn't easy and not anyone can do it. When I contacted them for help to fix my disaster they really weren't interested and kept putting me off. I found your video and followed your steps to the letter and used all the same products you did. While my counter top isn't perfect, it's waaaay better than it was. Thank you so much, Nathan!! You saved my kitchen project. I'm forever grateful!

@@GoodViewWoodworks I actually do have a question. I've tried sanding the sides of the counter, but I'll end up sanding through the epoxy before I correct the flaws. Would it be possible to completely sand off all the epoxy from the sides, mask off the top of the counter and re-pour just the sides?

Amazing! You’re easy to follow, explain the finishing process you just might want to express reaching a high gloss is not required: some people like the Matt finish. During the finishing the finish, one can stop at any point. When I have an issue with managing epoxy, you’ve always addressed my issue Thank you

Thanks Nathen I finished my river table but I wish I would have watched your video before my final sanding, buffing and polishing process. It’s obvious now that I missed some steps that didn’t allow me to achieve that perfect crystal finish I was going for. Whereas most people wouldn’t recognize any flaws we are usually our worst critics. (well except for the web trolls). The table is beautiful I have a real appreciation of how much work you put into it. I watched your final delivery video too, that must have been nerve racking ha ha.

Hey Nathen, I'm just seeing your videos here because I did my first epoxy counter top - about an 1/8 inch coat. Problem is, I have a corner where something was dropped on it and it cracked. I can barely feel the crack (about a half inch long right on the corner running from top to side) but I can see it clearly. So my question is, how would you go about fixing that?

Another question and wish there was a video on it. If you have a live edge table that was finished without epoxy (just oil) and the table cracked do to warping, how do you deal with that? Would you fill it with epoxy or can it be glued/epoxied and clamped back together. I'm talking about about a crash that is an inch at the widest point.

Love your videos. Very helpful. Have a question for ya. I sanded the top coat really well then poured a second coat. I let it cure for five days then took it outside to start to sand so I can polish it. I’ve noticed I now have two large air pockets. One is a couple inches in diameter. When I push on it it moves. Like air is trapped under it. Any advice?

Hello Nathan, great video and thank you for taking the time and effort to make it. I tried a similar repair but f-ed it all up. 🤦‍♂ I followed your led and all went well, uh the second time, we won't talk about that. 😢 Anyway, about the Mirka Abralon pads, about how long do they last for you? My table was 2' x 4 ', rather small, but my pads were spent after sanding that table. I even wonder if I should have used two (each grit) on my table. I get each epoxy/resin may load up the pads a bit differently so it isn't an exact science, but I was just seeing if you might have some idea with your experience. The pads are only a few $$$ each so it's not a cost issue, I just want to know if I'm over or under using them. And I was keeping them wet, maybe I was running the sander speed too high? Any suggestions would be appreciated. All the Best, Chuck

Hi Nathan- Hope you still check your comments. My husband made these beautiful cedar tables but the person wanted a stain on them. When we Epoxyed them the whole top is fish eyed ( I guess thats what its called) The first two tables we did pretty thick which was our mistake, but the next two a thin layer. All 4 tables did the same thing. Wish I could send you a picture- they look horrible. We did everything right- followed the directions and made sure surface was clean. Could it be the stain? The stain dried over a week before we applied the epoxy. We watched a few videos which show applyig a resin or something to make the tables smooth before applying the epoxy again. Please help. What do we need to do?

@GoodViewWoodworks
@GoodViewWoodworks 2 жыл бұрын
It depends on what finish you have on the surface. If it has been finished with a hard wax oil like @Rubio Monocoat or @odies oil then you maintain it the same way you would any wooden furniture you have. If it has a countertop epoxy, then you would clean or maintain it like you would the counters in your kitchen. The difference would be that the epoxy will scratch a little easier than your countertop would. Hope this helps.

Thanks man. Interesting video but hard to follow. Don't be afraid to edit. In fact please edit. Can you see how frustrating it is when you talk about a polish, don't show that polish being used, sand with 2000 grit and immediately cut to the results of the 3000 grit, totally skipping the results of the 2000. I'm already confused at this point trying to figure out if I missed something as you walk over to the bottle of tru polish and say "Sorry I meant tru grit. Maybe I was talking about the wrong bottle. Tru Grit, that's what I should've been using. (sigh). So did you use the tru polish instead of the tru grit on the 2000 grit which I don't see you applying any polish to? Did you use the wrong bottle on the 3000 grit which we didn't see at all. We don't know if you used either polish on either grit as you just stated you should've been using the tru grit. Now you state you are "going to go over the entire table with the tru grit and said I know we went a little crazy with the tru polish." Did we go crazy with the tru polish? Then you say "the tru grit you only have to go to 1000. Sorry bout that, if you go back in the video, but they're great products, I can't wait to use it." You can't wait to use them??? So we didn't just go crazy with the tru polish instead of the tru grit? Right after that, I went from frustrated and just gave in to laughter. Okay, here he goes. After sanding to 3000 we're ready for the tru grit. Lol. Let's do it. Even though you said we only should go to 1000 with it, does it really even matter at this point. lol Oh no. I just watched the final minute showing the finished product. Dude, you didn't send that table out looking all hazy like that did you? 😬😬 I saw nothing. I mean... Looks great!
